This pretty, terraced property is in the heart of the market town of Keswick and with its stunning scenery, vibrant culture and friendly locals, it’s the ideal base for an activity holiday. Located near the shores of Derwentwater, one of the most gorgeous lakes in the country, you can stroll along the beautiful shoreline or take to the water and enjoy a cruise or one of the many water sports available including canoeing, sailing, kayaking, fishing and rowing. Walkers will be in their element as they can head 3 miles away to Braithwaite and embark on the Coledale Horseshoe, a 9.5-mile loop that winds its way over the Wainwright Fells or head to the Helvellyn mountain range – one of the most popular and iconic in Cumbria. Keswick also has a number of art galleries and museums to peruse and, if you fancy a night out, there are numerous great pubs and restaurants close by.

The property itself is tucked in a quiet residential street just a short walk from the town centre. Stepping inside you’ll find welcoming interiors. At the front of the house there’s a charming dining room complete with table and chairs for four to enjoy a meal. This room is also home to a brimming bookcase and a comfortable chair if you want ten minutes to yourself for a quiet read. There is a well-equipped galley-style kitchen with everything you could need, including ample worktop space, to prepare meals like you would at home. It includes a handy breakfast bar with three stools on which to perch with your morning coffee – ideal if the chef of the group wants a little bit of company! To the rear of the house, you’ll find an inviting and cosy lounge. With some lovely finishing touches, as well as a gas fire within a gorgeous feature fireplace, this is the perfect spot to unwind in the evening after a day out in the Lakes. There are two comfortable sofas, along with a TV, so you can all relax together in front of a film. Completing the ground floor, there is a large utility space housing the laundry appliances and cleaning equipment – it’s an ideal place to store coats, shoes and outdoor gear, with space for multiple bikes. Heading upstairs, you’ll find two beautifully finished bedrooms – one king-size and one double, both of which are decorated in calming tones and with lovely little finishing touches which are designed to make you feel right at home. There is plenty of storage in both rooms and a shower room at the end of the landing. Should you need a bit of quiet space in which to work or read, there is also a characterful snug on this floor, complete with desk, chair and armchair so you can tuck yourself away for a little while. Leading off from the snug, you’ll also find an attractive second bathroom with a shower over the bath so you can choose between a relaxing soak or a quick rinse.

Outside, there is a pretty enclosed garden with seating – a lovely spot for an afternoon coffee where you can plan tomorrow’s adventures . There’s even a hose to clean muddy boots, bikes or dogs after a day of exploring the local area.

Everything was very clean and comfortable and we felt we had a lot of space for 4 people, which was nice, as some holiday accommodation can be a bit cramped. Having 2 bathrooms + an extra 'snug' + dining room and living room was a real luxury! The wifi was excellent. Overall it felt as if a lot of thought had gone into making the house welcoming, wRead moreith everything we might need. We also really liked being close to the centre of Keswick with easy access to buses, shops and walks. Hide

Lovely Cottage, well equipped and a great location. Parking wasn't a problem. Access through the rear of the cottage into the backyard and utility/Kitchen is perfect for wet muddy dogs.

Lovely comfortable cottage near the centre of Keswick. Would highly recommend. Utility room at the back good for leaving dirty boots and cleaning mucky dogs before they go into the cottage. Would definitely return.

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. The cottage had everything we needed and more, we have stayed in several cottages within Keswick and have to say this is has been our favourite so far!

The location was perfect for our stay! Parking was much easier than expected and being able to walk everywhere was wonderful. The house had everything we needed for our stay and was very comfortable. We would thoroughly recommend Gable cottage.

Fantastically positioned within a 10 minute stroll of the centre of Keswick, this house is great for a short or long stay. Clean, comfortable and very well equipped, I'd have no hesitation in booking this again.

This is a beautiful house in the middle of Keswick, yet quiet and residential. Really comfortable, well decorated and ideal for trips out walking from the doorstep. We loved it l.
