A great base for a couple looking to enjoy the great outdoors, this cosy cottage offers a home-from-home retreat in the market town of Keswick, with its museums and galleries, cinema and Theatre by the Lake. From here, book a trip to the lake to immerse yourselves in the beauty of the area. Hire a canoe, kayak or small motorboat and enjoy the stunning scenery. Mountain bike enthusiasts will love visiting Whinlatter Forest with its excellent tracks, only 5 miles away. Stroll 2 miles out of town to the historic Castlerigg Stone Circle or attempt the renowned 3.5-mile Catbells walk, which starts on the other side of the lake, 5 miles away. The Derwentwater launch stops close by for a lift back to town and also disembarks at Lingholm, where you can see the garden that inspired Beatrix Potter’s tales.

This pretty, traditional slate terrace cottage offers you a comfortable warm welcome. Entering the cottage, you will find yourself in the lounge with a wood burner-effect gas fire which offers constant heat in the winter evenings; it is an attractive feature within this room, framed by the large slate beam mantle above it. Enjoy a movie on the Smart TV while curled up on the comfy sofa. The kitchen is off the lounge and is well equipped to cook a hearty breakfast or a romantic evening meal but, if you don’t fancy cooking, you are spoilt for choice in the town with lots of nice places to eat, many of which are dog friendly. There is access out onto the shared garden from the kitchen – after a long walk, this is ideal as you can leave your muddy boots and coats in the porch which can be accessed out the back of the property. Head up to the first floor where you will find a spacious king-size bedroom and bathroom next door. There is a snug on the second floor which offers lovely views across the rooftops towards the fells – the large picture window makes this a warm and sunny room and it is the perfect spot to read a good book or enjoy a glass of wine and reflect on your day.

Outside, there is a shared garden with lawn – a real suntrap and a great spot to enjoy a morning coffee.

A very clean and comfortable cottage with the added bonus a garden. We used it most days during our stay. The location was perfect for us, being close to town, the park and the lake but very quiet too. The upstairs sitting area was a really wonderful place to enjoy the views and relax. Parking on the street was no problem, although we didn't use thRead moree car at all during our weeks holiday. We would recommend the cottage and would certainly stay again. Hide
