This delightful home-from-home welcomes family and friends to experience the charm of a Lakeland retreat. This historic building is perfectly positioned within the heart of the oldest part of the village of Chapel Stile. Its old slate walls provided shelter for the horses of people travelling through the Langdales. It was completely remodelled in 2023 to include many eco-friendly features aimed at minimising its carbon footprint through the use of solar power. This lovely retreat is nestled in the quaint village of Chapel Stile, surrounded by the natural beauty of the fells, the local pub, café and shops all await. Nature lovers and hikers will revel in the myriad of options available amidst the encompassing fells of the Langdale Valley. Discover tranquillity on the banks of Elterwater, a delightful 0.8-mile walk along the River Brathay. Explore the beauty of Rydal Water, 2 miles south-east, which offers diverse trails suitable for all skill levels and is complemented by a majestic estate and gardens. For enthusiasts of cultural heritage, Grasmere is only 3.5 miles away, where you can visit the Wordsworth Museum. Ambleside lies 5 miles south, with an array of eateries and independent shops, ensuring all your needs are met nearby.

Entering the ground floor, guests are welcomed into the heart of the property via a beautiful entrance hall with loads of room to hang the coats up and kick the boots off. A stunning oak staircase leads to the first floor. Exposed roof beams span the multi-purpose open area, a kitchen/dining/lounging area that offers a social, spacious and elegant setting. Enjoy cosy nights by the fire, get together for a grand feast, or relax in the evening admiring the view across spectacular Langdale Valley from the large balcony, which is accessed through the bi-fold doors. On the same floor, the first two bedrooms can be found. There’s a king-size bedroom with high ceilings and an en-suite shower room, and a super king-size bedroom with a TV, and also with its own en-suite shower room. Heading back through the kitchen and downstairs, the cinema room beckons. With a Smart TV and atmospheric lighting, this space is perfect for movie nights together. The utility room next door is perfectly tucked away and offers space for washing and drying. Also on the ground floor, the second super-king-size bedroom makes for a restful night's sleep, with its en-suite shower room and stunning view of the patio area. The final bedroom is a king with relaxing decor and a wonderful en-suite bathroom.

The outside space is idyllic, boasting stunning views across the fells and mountains at every turn. Soaking up the sunshine from the balcony or enjoying a moment of tranquillity on the patio, there is space for everyone to enjoy themselves at this enchanting cottage.

Great location with stunning views Large spacious property, great for our family holiday Large comfy beds. Lovely en suites Fab cinema room Not secure enough garden for our small dogs, even after enquiring. The large grassed area on the ariel photo isn't usable, steep and unkempt Overall though we loved our stay.

A very lovely and spacious cottage, suitable for 8 persons and a dog. The top terrace has a lovely view over the valley and the ground floor covered terrace came in very handy during extensive rainy spells during our stay. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The hob proved to be a little small when cooking for a large group of people.
