Set down a small single-track road, this historic cottage offers friends or family a fantastic opportunity to experience Lakeland farm life surrounded by fantastic vistas in a stunning location. With the fells on your doorstep, spectacular walking trails begin as soon as you leave home. The village of Coniston is 3.8 miles away with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops providing all you need for your holiday. Coniston holds some of the Lake District’s most varied landscapes, where mediaeval farms nestle amongst woods and wetlands of international importance. Beautiful Coniston Water was the setting for the Swallows and Amazons book and film. The village of Waterhead is 4.5 miles away and marks the start of Windermere – England’s longest lake. Waterhead has a pier from which you can take a boat trip around the famous lake. Stop off at Bowness for the bars and shops or Lakeside for Lakes Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway.

You enter the cottage into a beautiful wood-panelled hallway. There are some low beams and ceilings throughout the cottage, common with a property of this age. A large open-plan living room features a dining table and comfortable seating laid out around the marvellous inglenook fireplace with a wood burner - the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day’s exploring. The kitchen is a cosy space with a welcoming ambience. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with underfloor heating and a large bath for a relaxing soak, the bath also has an overhead shower. Upstairs you can really appreciate the age of this cottage, with latched doors, uneven floorboards and low ceilings. There are two double rooms and a twin room up here, each with their own distinct and colourful character, and all offering picturesque views.

Outside, a fenced garden lawn and picnic table offer the perfect space to enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding fells.

I cannot praise this cottage enough. Location is absolutely unbeatable. Beautifully laid out with very cosy sofas and beds. In my opinion best experienced in the winter months when you can use the fire to its full potential. Located on a working farm, you have the company of beautiful cows, sheep and sheep dogs. Fresh eggs on request. Absolutely pRead moreerfect home away from home cottage. Didnt want to leave. Dealing with original cottages was easy and smooth. Would 100% recommend. Hide

Low Arnside is an idyllic cottage in the heart of truly breathtaking countryside. It has everything you could need including total peace and quiet. The farm is a working farm so there are animals around which is a bonus. A wonderful holiday in a wonderful place. We will definitely return.

We really loved the remoteness, lack of WiFi and being in such a beautiful location. The house is perfect with a dog due to flag stone floors downstairs and the private garden. The wood burning stove makes it super cosy in the sitting room and other rooms get warm with the storage heaters. I was concerned about the downstairs bathroom because Im pRead moreregnant and need to go in the night, but the stairs are carpeted and easy to navigate so it wasnt a problem at all. We were only two people and the dog so we had quite a lot of space, it would feel a bit tight with 6 adults but lovely with children. Lots of low doors but they have padding on which saved my head on many occasions. Hide
