Nestled in the heart of the charming village of Cark, Cark Cottage offers an inviting blend of character, comfort, and riverside tranquillity. With the gentle River Eea running through the centre of the village, two welcoming pubs, a nearby artisan bakery, and a train station all within easy reach, this peaceful setting places you just under two miles from Cartmel and only 15 minutes from the southern tip of Lake Windermere.

Stepping into the cottage through the beautifully crafted kitchen entrance, you are welcomed into a bright, dual‑aspect space finished to an exceptional standard. This stylish, fully equipped kitchen—complete with quality appliances and a wine chiller—enjoys lovely views across the river and village, setting the tone for the thoughtful design found throughout the home.

From the kitchen, the spacious hallway leads to two ground‑floor bedrooms: one super‑king (zip‑and‑link for flexible sleeping arrangements) and one double. Both rooms overlook the pretty riverside with its graceful weeping willow, and one has direct outdoor access. A modern bathroom with shower completes this floor.

Upstairs, the first‑floor living space embraces the cottage’s upside‑down layout. The generous open‑plan lounge and dining area features exposed beams, original stonework, and a wood burner—perfect for cosy evenings after exploring the Lakes. A separate mezzanine level offers a small double sofa bed for up to two additional guests (best suited to children). Also on this floor is the spacious master bedroom with its own en‑suite bathroom.

Outside, an enclosed rear area provides a peaceful spot for alfresco dining or simply relaxing to birdsong.

Cark Cottage is perfectly suited to families or friends looking to explore both the Lake District National Park and the nearby coastline. Holker Hall, with its magnificent gardens, café, and year‑round events, is within walking distance, while Cartmel’s historic Priory, racecourse, Michelin‑starred dining, and artisan shops are just moments away.

A short drive brings you to Newby Bridge, where you can enjoy Windermere lake cruises, heritage steam trains, and access to Grizedale Forest’s walking and cycling trails.

Cark Cottage offers an ideal base for discovering this beautiful region in every season.

This is a well equipped and extremely well maintained cottage. There is ample off road parking, a very well equipped kitchen and three sizeable bedrooms. The living room is on the first floor as is the bedroom with the en-suite. We found it well stocked with wood for the wood burner and very comfortable with a good sized dining area. We had a fabulous stay in Cark House Cottage with our friends and our two dogs. It's in a lovely little village next to a stream, there were lots of lovely walks direct from the cottage . The cottage itself is very spacious , with three lovely bedrooms, very comfortable beds and great showers. The fixtures and fittings are top quality and it was veRead morery clean throughout. There is a great takeaway Flounders in the next village Flooksburgh and the village of Cartmel approx 3 miles away is a real foodie place .it's full of pubs and restaurants . We ate out at 3 of the pubs ( which were all dog friendly ) and the food was excellent. You've got to try their sticky toffee pudding its amazing, You can buy it to take home from the village shop. We even had one included in the very generous welcome pack at the cottage. We would thoroughly recommend Cark House Cottage, it's a great base to explore the lakes and the coast Hide

We had the best week at the cottage celebrating my daughter's 30th birthday. The property is stunning inside and out. We were lucky to have sunny weather all week and made good use of the outside space. There is plenty of space at the front of the property for 3 cars. It is well secured with gates to keep our dogs in too. We were a party of 6 adulRead morets and 2 dogs and felt we had plenty of room for us all. The way the house is laid out is perfect, the lounge and dining area is upstairs but it is such a big bright room and offers much more space than you would have normally. All the rooms are beautiful and everything was spotless. There is everything you will ever need in this house and the welcome pack was a lovely touch with some very nice goodies in it! Cark is a great base for visiting the area. We used the bus into Cartmel and took a train ride into Grange over Sands and also Arnside. Would definitely recommend using the train as it was quick and no worries with parking. Would definitely recommend this property and we hope to return in the future. Hide
