It is set within a small group of dwellings on the outskirts of town and is a great base for a walking or cycling holiday in the Lake District, with Lake Windermere just over 8 miles away. Guests can go hiking there, but there’s also a plethora of water sports and boating activities too. Both Kendal and the towns around Lake Windermere have many pubs, restaurants and cafes to take a load off after a long day exploring.

Inside, the traditional stone cottage is all on one level. There is a delightful lounge area with a Smart TV and comfortable seating, where guests can access the outside area and enjoy those magnificent vistas. The open-plan kitchen and diner is equipped with everything guests could possibly need for a self-catering stay complete with a dining table for two. There is plenty of storage provided.

This was our 2nd stay at The Dairy. A lovely, spacious and very clean cottage. Everything we needed. Easy booking through 'Original Cottages'. Would highly recommend.

Lovely spacious cottage for 1 or 2 people but at the end of a lengthy lane from main road which was impassable when snowed. Also too far to walk to Kendal as very uphill coming back. This wasn't clear in the description and would have been useful to know beforehand

The cottage is a great base to explore the Lake District from. Lake Windemere is only about a ten minute drive and you can be right in Kendal town centre within a twenty minute walk. The cottage itself was very cosy and comfortable, with a good sized living room and bedroom. Our fourth month old daughter was visiting with us and there was plenty ofRead more room for her cot. The only thing we would change is the flooring in the bathroom due to it being carpeted, however this wouldnt stop us from returning to this quaint holiday home. Hide

Excellent communication in the run up to the holiday, a lovely cottage, larger than expected, very clean and a lovely homely feeling about the place.

We found the cottage to be in a good situation with lovely views of the surrounding hills. It was clean, compact and comfortable, we could park outside the front door to unload/load.

We thought that the Cottage (The Dairy) was better than wed expected! The photos didnt do it justice .. So was bigger than wed expected, plenty of room for us two also we had two guest one day and still werent cramped! The views were to die for especially in the mornings when all of the animals came to say hello. So peaceful and tranquil (except wRead morehen the builders arrived working on the place next door)! We expected a Welcome Pack! We have had one everywhere else weve been everything from bacon and eggs, bread, cake, milk and tea..to just the basic tea, coffee, milk, eggs! But that didnt bother us to much, but it did irk that not even salt/pepper, or cooking oil was left! Everywhere has that! Also everything exactly counted to 4 cups plates ( dinner plates were not very nice, showing cracks in the glaze ) ! But we managed with all of these little niggles as the Cottage itself is just gorgeous! Just make sure that you take EVERYTHING! Oh we were left a jay cloth to use in the kitchen WELL a it was a reduced in size cut into thirds we thought! Who does that? Hide

The cottage was beautiful a wee problem with heating but didn't spoil our holiday. A couple of things needed some egg cups and a bath mat otherwise a great cottage in a great location with stunning views.

The cottage was lovely, I would happily stay there again. Containers for microwave cooking would be useful. I could not get hot water or work out the heating but the office was very helpful and sent a man to sort it out post haste.

The only reason we are unlikely to rebook is because we live in New Zealand! We loved staying at the Dairy. It was immaculate, spacious but cosy and very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Despite being on the edge of town it felt like we were right out in the country. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and I would thoroughly recommRead moreend this property to anyone. Hide
