Very well appointed proprty in the heart of Hawkshead. We could ride and walk from the property so hardly used our van. Pubs and eateries all over, plus a handy Co-op. Would recommend!

I would highly recommend this cottage. The location is perfect for walks in the beautiful countryside, easy walking distance to 2 lakes, socialising and shopping. There is everything in the cottage you could possibly need - a real home from home. You're greeted by a beautiful, large high ceilinged kitchen diner with a lovely big shuttered window,Read more the floor tiles give a very rustic feel, blue with like copper veins and textured so not slippy when you come in with muddy boots and paws. We were left a lovely bag of locally sourced goodies. Also there was tea, instant coffee, pods for the coffee machine, sugar, salt, pepper, tablets/pods for the washing machine and dishwasher, black bags, tin foil, a very well equipped kitchen from a crockery, cutlery and cooking perspective, loads of pans, trays etc, theres folding chairs in bags with shoulder straps you could take on your walks, theres a desk with a printer, paper and envelopes, and every cable for charging and extension you could possibly need. There's a toilet on the ground floor, a bathroom with a shower, a twin bedroom and lounge on the first floor and a most beautiful attic room with gorgeous original beams leading to a sky lit bathroom with a roll top bath. Beds are so comfy. Only thing to advise is its a tall building with steep staircases, but if youre reasonably able its not a problem. I would highly recommend and would not hesitate to book again. Our 3rd time here and we love it. Its a historical property and very interesting lay out, its big but cozy and gives a nostalgic feel. The shower on the 1st floor was so nice, and deep scroll top bath of pure luxury. Theres a desk in the lounge with even a printer if you need to do any work whilst there. The owners have made it feel like home, witRead moreh family games in the drawer and books. They have thought of everything, with every convenience you could need, and they listen. The 1st time we found the mattresses too hard to sleep, they immediately addressed this and changed them, which we found astounding and have been back twice since. When you arrive there on the kitchen table is always a gift and welcome note. A very touching thought. A generous hessian bag containing local jams, chutneys biscuits, chocolate etc. Set just a minute from the main town, its a sleepy village with no disturbance, despite the local traditional pubs serving great food. We have never really explored Hawkshead despite being Lake District lovers for 50yrs. Its a lovely place with access to some really great walks. We still drove out to our usual areas a couple of times but we enjoy this so much it satisfies our love of walking, exploring new places, knowing at the end of the day we are coming back to Judges Lodgings. Cant wait to book again later this year. Thank you for a great week. Hide

The cottage was perfect. We came back after staying here in March. Its spotless and the master bedroom is lovely. We had mentioned we found the beds too firm. The owners took that on board and replaced the mattresses which were perfect. Its peaceful even though we were so close to Hawkshead village. The lounge suite is super comfy after a days walkRead moreing/hiking. Beautiful bath and bathrooms spotless. We love the quirkiness of the kitchen downstairs. It has a wonderful nostalgic feel. loved it. X Hide
