Easily accessible from main road routes yet surrounded by picturesque fell views, Braithwaite is the ideal base from which to explore the national park. The village itself offers a range of amenities including a convenience shop, two pubs and two hotels. Set out on foot and head up Barrow to be rewarded by stunning panoramic views, or for a longer stroll tackle the Coledale Horseshoe. Take to the water with a trip on a Derwentwater steamer, 3 miles away, or stay on dry land to enjoy a gentle walk and picnic on the lakeside before browsing the market town of Keswick, perched at the top of the lake. Or, for an adrenaline rush, Whinlatter Forest offers a wealth of mountain bike trails together with a Go Ape high ropes course and is just 2 miles away.

Inside, this period cottage has been tastefully modernised to retain plenty of original charm through exposed stonework and two charming fireplaces, with the welcome additions of wood burners, fresh décor, and modern appliances. Entertain in the spacious and open plan kitchen/diner, which is a fabulous social space fitted with chic contemporary units, an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, dining table and wood burner. Meanwhile, a handy utility room houses the freezer, washer/dryer, an indoor clothes line and a downstairs WC. At the end of a long day on foot, relax and unwind in front of the roaring wood burner and TV in the lounge or admire the fell views from the peaceful sunroom beyond. Upstairs are three bedrooms, two doubles and one twin, each of which has been elegantly finished in calming neutral tones with carefully chosen soft furnishings and antique furniture. The bedrooms share a modern bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Step outside from the sunroom into the garden where you will find no fewer than three patios for enjoying al fresco meals with a view, with a partially enclosed lawn area for four-legged friends to explore too. There is parking for two cars and space for storing bikes.

Loved the cottage. What a beautiful location. There were 6 of us and it was a stretch only having the one bathroom for showers however. The cottage wasn't cleaned very well on our arrival however the company were quick to respond offering to send in cleaners.

A very well equipped and homely cottage, perfectly situated to access the fells, for five adults and a dog. The kitchen/diner area is a great sociable space to prepare and eat meals together after a day out on the hills. The conservatory was also a bonus and a nice space to relax. We had a very wet week, so is was fantastic to have the outside areaRead more to store wet boots, waterproofs, bikes and even an inflatable kayak! As was the utility room to dry wet clothes!! Thank you, we hope to return. Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location. This is a 3/4 bedroom cottage with only one small bathroom, only 2 of use staying so not an issue. Additional toilet downstairs.

We really enjoyed our stay at Turncroft Cottage, set in a fantastic location with far reaching views. The fire was very welcome on the cold nights and was easy to use. The bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen had all the amenities needed to make meals. The house was spotlessly clean and had just been painted. We spotted over 16 bird species from Read morethe cottage, and even a stoat! We would love to come back to the cottage again. Hide

A beautiful and well-maintained cottage in a wonderful location with a pretty garden, stunning views and great walks from the doorstep, with a friendly pub one minute away. Keswick, Derwentwater, Newlands Valley and Buttermere are all an easy drive. Our family of five (plus dog) had a brilliant holiday.
