Located within the hamlet of Lamplugh on the outskirts of the western Lake District, this property is nestled amongst relatively isolated, breathtaking countryside. With many walks from your doorstep, you can explore the remote Ennerdale Valley and the Loweswater fells. A little further afield, you can immerse yourselves in the dramatic scenery of Wastwater with views across to Scafell or, heading north, you can discover picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake. For families, Whinlatter Forest Park has a range of activities on offer, as well as walking and cycling trails through the trees. You also have lots of towns to enjoy nearby, such as Cockermouth (7.5 miles), Whitehaven on the coast and popular tourist spot, Keswick and its outdoor specialist shops.

This grand Georgian farmhouse has been beautifully renovated; original features such as exposed beams, sweeping staircase and large sash windows sit effortlessly alongside mod-cons to add character and comfort throughout. As you’d expect from a property this age, the rooms are large and airy, ensuring everyone has plenty of space to spread out and relax. On entering, you’ll find yourself in the dining room where there is ample seating for everyone, whether you’re dining together, playing games or planning an adventure. From here, head into the modern, good-sized kitchen with plenty of space for preparation and storage. There is also a handy utility room with yet more storage and a washing machine for muddy gear. Moving into the lounge, you’ll appreciate the lower ceiling that create a sense of cosiness and the open fire which adds warmth and comfort. Deep sofas provide the perfect place for snuggling up of an evening after a busy day. Completing the ground floor is a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The remaining bedrooms are upstairs: two further twin rooms, two doubles and one king-size with an en-suite shower room. (Please note that one of the twin rooms is accessed via one of the doubles.) All the bedrooms are immaculately presented, with neutral tones creating a calm and restful mood. There is also a family bathroom on this floor.

The farmhouse has 1 acre of shared garden, with far-reaching lawns, mature shrubs and a stream running through it. To the rear, there is a terrace for alfresco dining. Although shared, there is an area sectioned off for guests of this property.

We have stayed in these 3 properties in Lamplugh as a large family once a year, for over 16 years now. They are great for a big family get together, beautiful safe gardens with lots of places to play - paddling in the stream, the hidden garden and massive lawns, also great to relax in with the rear garden being really nice and sheltered. The 2 laRead morerger houses connect together which is really convenient, then the smaller one is separate. All are spacious, comfortable and homely, nothing to fancy so you can all relax rather than worrying about lots of fancy ornaments etc. A great location in a quiet part of the Lakes. Can't wait to be back again next year. Hide

Gorgeous location and stunning gardens. We really enjoyed our recent stay at Low Millgillhead, even with the inclement weather we could retreat to this homely house and light the fire and play games. One thing to make dog owners aware is that dogs are not allowed upstairs or on the sofas (not on the info provided until you arrive & read the welcomeRead more folder). Location is fantastic for exploring the lakes and no issues with the neighbouring properties. Thoroughly recommend and would love to return. Hide

The house and garden is beautiful - one of the loveliest houses we have stayed in. It is immaculately decorated, equipped and presented. I suppose some people might be put off by the shared site, but its really very private as well. The only slight downside is the location, which is a little remote, and the walk to the pub along the A-road feels a Read morebit perilous. Would still recommend for exploring the western lakes though. Hide

This cottage was perfect for a group of 10. Very spacious, plenty of beds, the kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need to cook and dine. The garden was spacious and the garden chairs and tables made it a lovely environment to chill out in. We loved our stay here, would definitely recommend.

Fantastic house which met all our requirements and we had a wonderful holiday. The beds were super comfortable! Great dining table which we enjoyed sitting round for games as well as food! The garden was delightful ( and very dog friendly) and it was a pity that the weather was such that we couldnt sit outside very much. It is situated in a delightRead moreful part of the Lakes and close to lots of the quieter lakes which we enjoyed exploring. Hide

We had a wonderful week, the house is perfect for large groups, and is comfortable and very well equipped. We cooked for 11 every night and there were plenty of pots and pans.
