Just a mile from the edge of the lake, the pretty village of Windermere has a choice of welcoming pubs, restaurants and cafes, providing a range of refreshment at the end of a great day’s exploration. Nearby Bowness-on-Windermere is home to The World of Beatrix Potter, and you can take a ferry across Windermere to discover Wray Castle and the stunning Claife Viewing Station. Heading west you can visit Hill Top (5 miles) or climb The Old Man of Coniston (12 miles). There are numerous quaint villages in the area including Ambleside (4.5 miles) and Hawkshead (9 miles). A wide variety of activities to take part in include mountain biking, climbing, golf, canoeing, kayaking, boat cruises, horse riding and paddleboarding.

Stepping into this bright and attractively renovated property, the spacious lounge is an ideal spot to unwind in, with plenty of seating, TV and a warming wood burner, with original ceiling beams adding character to the room. The stylishly designed kitchen/diner has flagstone floors and wooden beams and is a lovely sociable space for preparing and sharing your favourite meals. The light and relaxing diner is set in front of a wood burner-effect gas fire which is in an original brick fireplace, and makes a lovely spot for you to all gather together. The sleek, attractive kitchen is equipped with an electric range-style oven with gas hobs, a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a handy central island unit. There’s also boot room and a WC on the ground floor. The wooden staircase leads to the three first-floor bedrooms. Please note there are some lower beams upstairs. The twin room and the first king-size room share a Jack and Jill shower room with a shower, WC, slate floor and tiles. There’s also a family bathroom with a free-standing bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.

Outside, the extensive garden has a beautiful lawn with plenty of outdoor furniture – a seat under the ancient apple tree is a perfect spot to catch up with a good book. The patio provides an ideal backdrop for al fresco dining, and there are wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. There are a couple of outhouses – one with a washing machine and tumble dryer, while the other one can be used for storing bikes. Off-road parking is available for three cars – please note the gateway into the parking area is quite tight, but there’s plenty of space inside.
