Sleeping six guests, this holiday home lies in pretty Ambleside. Its eco credentials include solar panels. The triple glazed windows and warming insulation reduce energy usage, supporting the owners with the aim of reducing their carbon footprint. It’s ideal for guests who love outdoor pursuits. Potter around the shops, cafes, and park in Ambleside village, a meeting place for walkers and cyclists. Join a boat cruise at Waterhead Pier (1 mile) and hop off for a meal in bustling Bowness-on-Windermere (5.5 miles). Discover 19th-century Brockhole House and Gardens (2.5 miles), an arts and crafts villa with terraced gardens and views towards the Langdale Pikes; there’s a wealth of family-friendly activities to enjoy from archery and treetop treks to a woodland fairy trail. Or visit Wordsworth’s historic home in picturesque Grasmere (4 miles).

Step inside this spacious holiday home and leave coats and boots in the porch before walking through to the bright and airy open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, where light floods in through the windows which offer countryside views. There’s a convenient utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, and storage space for sports gear; a spacious king-size bedroom with storage space, an armchair, a vanity unit, a TV with Freeview and Blu-ray DVD player, and an en-suite shower room. There’s a separate WC on the ground floor too. Cook up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen which has an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. Make plans for a new day around the breakfast bar and gather at the dining table to enjoy delicious homemade recipes. Unwind in cosy seating in the living area, and watch favourite films together on the TV with Freeview and DVD player, or listen to music on the CD player which has an iPhone jack. Head upstairs to the landing area which has a cosy armchair and reading light. On this floor you’ll also find a super-king-size bedroom (adapted to twin beds on request) with an armchair, TV with Freeview, and fell views; a spacious twin (adapted to a super-king-size on request) with an armchair, TV with Freeview and a Blu-ray DVD player; plus a family bathroom with a bath tub, separate shower, and WC. (Please note: there are some sloping ceilings upstairs). There is a septic tank, so please be mindful of what you use. Please refrain from using any antibacterial products, bleach or wipes. A supply of approved cleaning agents will be provided for your stay so please feel free to use these.

Outside, you’ll find a gravelled courtyard garden with garden furniture at the front and side of the property, a herb garden, a paddle stone garden area, and views towards the fells and the River Rothay, abundant with birdsong and wildlife. Off-road parking is available for up to five cars, and there’s a storage area for six bikes, a separate store for two canoes, and a convenient outside tap and hose. There are a pub, shop, and eateries within half a mile of the property. Guests have complimentary membership of a health club in Troutbeck (3 miles) during their stay; facilities include a swimming pool, gym, and sauna - gym locker padlocks are available in the cottage.

Beautiful holiday home, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Perfect location with walks from the door step. We left the car and used the reliable bus service to get us to the walks. Would highly recommend.

House is in excellent location - can easily walk into Ambleside within 10 minutes. Very good kitchen equipment provided.Plenty of living space for 6 adults.For us, very useful to have an electric charger but be aware 50p per unit very costly compared to a Tesla supercharger at a motorway service at 35p per unit.The charger is not a super charger buRead moret guess you are paying for the convenience. It was a wonderfull Holiday at Riverside retreat. Everything you need is there and it is a cozy family home. The view is amazing! You can walk to Ambleside through the park. Also you can walk to lake Windermere where you can take a boatride to Bowness or Wray castle.

Just everything about Riverview Retreat was wonderful. Location outside Ambleside away from the busyness of town was excellent. Close enough to walk to town. Cottage had very spacious rooms and was very well equipped. Would highly recommend it.

Our 2nd stay at this clean , well equipped property . Good location by the River Rothay , plentiful off road parking, a pleasant walk along by the River and through the park into Ambleside . The car stayed parked all week . We walked , used our pensioner passes on the excellent local buses and enjoyed the Red cruise on Windermere . The lovely , warRead morem Spring sunshine enhanced our stay . Thank you . Hide

Over the years we have enjoyed many visits to Riverside Retreat. The location and property are first class and clean. However, we were sorry to see that the dryer had not been repaired/replaced and the beds and duvets had seen better days. Also the hot tap in the kitchen was completely unusable.

We have stayed in Riverside Retreat many times over the years and cannot complain. The property is well maintained and clean. Easy access to town and the park. Parking is great for up to 3 cars.
