Property code: OC-SZ058

Situated on the outskirts of the village of Haile, on the western edge of the Lake District, this property’s quiet, countryside location ensures guests will have a relaxing stay. The unspoilt Ennerdale Valley is close by and offers quieter walking routes than other areas of the National Park, but its natural beauty is just as magnificent. Wasdale Valley, home to Scafell, Scafell Pike and Great Gable, is also easily accessible from here. To the south, you can visit Eskdale, famous for its steam railway which journeys to the coastal town of Ravenglass. On the coast, you can take clifftop paths from villages such as St. Bees or towns like Whitehaven, or just stroll along the beautiful beaches.

This bright and airy cottage is beautifully presented throughout. Light wooden surfaces and large windows combine to create the feeling of space and light in every room. On entering through the side door, you’ll find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge area is cosy with sofas and chairs in front of a wood burner, which is perfect for colder evenings; on summer evenings, you can open the large patio doors which lead out to the garden. The dining table offers seating for six, whether you’re sharing a meal, playing games or planning your next big adventure. To the rear of the room, the contemporary kitchen is equipped with everything you’ll need to cater to everyone. There is a utility area with a washing machine and a small freezer with a separate WC. Upstairs, there’s a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, another double with a Juliet balcony and a twin room, all with views of the garden and surrounding countryside. Completing the accommodation is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside, you can access the mature, terraced garden from the patio doors in the lounge area. Directly outside is a large patio ideal for al fresco dining. Paths lead to other areas of the garden where you’ll find a variety of hidden seating. The rear garden backs onto open fields and is not enclosed. There is ample free parking in the area immediately opposite the property.

We've visited this cottage three times and it's been lovely every time. It's tucked away along a farm road and is very quiet. However, it's only a couple of miles to Egremont and St Bees and very close to Cold Fell and Lowther Park Forest. The cottage has a fantastic well stocked wood burning stove and all the mod cons that a family could ask forRead more. The private car park is large and very convenient. From the back windows we could see rabbit, deer and lambs in the surrounding fields and is a truly beautiful and magical place. Hide

It was exactly as shown in the pictures on the website. Very well equipped. Excellent WiFi. Quiet location. Some nice touches like liquid hand soap in the bathrooms. The cottage was spotless with good quality bedding and towels. Would definitely recommend it

Comfortable, quiet and peaceful. It could be made clear on the description that it adjoins another property, with the outside overlooked. Attractive patiol. Property is not really suitable for dogs or small children .

Delightful cottage in a lovely peaceful setting, surrounded by farmland. Excellent Co-op a 5 min drive away in Egremont. Cottage itself is very comfortable, well maintained and well equipped (even sharp knives, which made a welcome change!). Gardens beautifully kept. This is a quiet part of Cumbria (which is what we wanted) unlike the busy main Lakes area (which is over 1hr's drive away). Hide

Nicely situated if you want to explore the western hills and the coast. Homely and comfortable cottage, ample room for six people. Next to a working farm with lots of lambs in May which was lovely.

Cosy cottage situated around working farms. Enjoyed a week at the end of Lambing season, so lots of lovely lambs to watch in the fields. Quite remote, but chosen to be both handy for Western Wainwrights and also to be able to pop to Wasdale & still get into Keswick.

The cottage is in a good location if you like being out in a remote area , it can sleep 6 and has a sitting area outside that is secluded. Cutlery , china and saucepans are sufficient although the Frying Pans need to be replaced. Dont expect luxury but all the basics are there.

Clean and comfortable, had everything we needed for our stay. We chose this cottage due to it's quiet location, and it didn't disappoint. More than enough parking across the road, less than 3 metres from the front door. Will stay here again if in the area. Host was lovely too.
