A great base for a couple looking to enjoy the great outdoors, this cosy cottage offers a home-from-home retreat in the market town of Keswick, with its museums and galleries, cinema and Theatre by the Lake. From here, book a trip to the lake to immerse yourselves in the beauty of the area. Hire a canoe, kayak or small motorboat and enjoy the stunning scenery. Mountain bike enthusiasts will love visiting Whinlatter Forest with its excellent tracks, only 5 miles away. Stroll 2 miles out of town to the historic Castlerigg Stone Circle or attempt the renowned 3.5-mile Catbells walk, which starts on the other side of the lake, 5 miles away. The Derwentwater launch stops close by for a lift back to town and also disembarks at Lingholm, where you can see the garden that inspired Beatrix Potter’s tales.

This pretty, traditional slate terrace cottage offers you a comfortable warm welcome. Entering the cottage, you will find yourself in the lounge with an electric fire, perfect for those cosy winter evenings; it is an attractive feature within this room, framed by the large slate beam mantle above it. Enjoy a movie on the Smart TV while curled up on the comfy sofa. The kitchen is off the lounge and is well equipped to cook a hearty breakfast or a romantic evening meal but, if you don’t fancy cooking, you are spoilt for choice in the town with lots of nice places to eat, many of which are dog friendly. There is access out onto the shared garden from the kitchen – after a long walk, this is ideal as you can leave your muddy boots and coats in the porch which can be accessed out the back of the property. Head up to the first floor where you will find a spacious king-size bedroom and bathroom next door. There is a snug on the second floor which offers lovely views across the rooftops towards the fells – the large picture window makes this a warm and sunny room and it is the perfect spot to read a good book or enjoy a glass of wine and reflect on your day.

Outside, there is a shared garden with lawn – a real suntrap and a great spot to enjoy a morning coffee.

Great cottage. We managed to get the gas fire going 24 hrs after we arrived which made such a difference to our stay. This definitely needs resolving for future guests. Very comfortable and great facilities.

Very clean, well presented cottage just a few minutes walk to the town centre. Enjoyed a week long break here as a base for exploring the local area. Always nice to have somewhere comfortable to go back to when you've had the typical wet weather days in the lakes.

Really nice cottage only small niggle was finding a parking space on arrival. Finally got parked outside the cottage and did not use the car for the whole week's stay. Good public transport available.

A lovely property really close to the centre of Keswick. It was very clean when we arrived. Kitchen was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The best thing for us was the large bath, perfect after a day of hill walking, and the shower which was really powerful. Would definitely stay again and can highly recommend it.

We booked our accommodation very last minute, we were due to visit Keswick just as Storm Bert was due to arrive. We were supposed to be staying in our caravan but instead contacted Holiday Cottages mid afternoon on the day before our trip. They checked with the owners and had everything set up for us to arrive. The cottage is lovely and cosy, especRead moreially with its view across to the hill that gives it its name. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a place to stay in Keswick. Hide

Lovely cottage, great location for walking into town or down to Hope Park and the lake. I cant fault the amenities at all although I didnt need to use the washing machine I can see it would be a great bonus in the Winter. I would say that the stairs are very narrow, steep and there is a tight turn at the top. I couldnt get my packed bag up them as Read moretoo wide so had to unpack downstairs which luckily was easy as I had packed items in compression storage bags so just had to lift them out. Hide

Pet free but dog from neighbours house is free to roam in the shared garden. Shared garden with fold up chairs x 2 and a fold up table, not really great to sit out and eat breakfast on. Overall great location on a quiet street, well equipped.
