Discover some of Cumbria’s best natural beauty spots from the comfort of this cottage that sleeps five at the southern tip of the Borrowdale Valley. Tucked in the village of Seatoller, you’ll soon be exploring sweeping fells, rugged mountains and pockets of woodland before returning to soak up the ambience of a crackling open fire over a glass of wine. Test your limits scaling the dramatic heights of mountain peaks including Glaramara and Dale Head, both within 2.5 miles. If you prefer a gentler excursion, tranquil Derwentwater is a short 6.5 miles away. An 8-mile drive will bring you to Keswick, a historic market town with several shops, eateries and amusements including the Theatre by the Lake and a family-run cinema.

Enter the property via the entranceway, storing your coats on the hooks as you pass and kicking off your muddy boots. You’ll immediately spot the bathroom with its handy shower-over-the bath and WC and the kitchen to your left. A large sash window allows natural light to pour into the attractive kitchen/diner, creating a pleasant space to cook up a storm and make good use of the electric oven, hob, and microwave and the separate pantry area houses a fridge/freezer. Enjoy your meals around the table that has seating for five, then walk through to the lounge to relax on the sofa. The stone fireplace features an open fire, and there is a TV for catching up on your favourite shows or reading one of the books provided. A door reveals the stairs leading up to the first floor where you’ll discover the three bedrooms. First is a pretty single bedroom with a bed, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet, and next, there is a twin bedroom with two single beds, a chest of drawers and a washbasin. The spacious double bedroom has excellent views across the valley and is furnished with a bed, seating, washbasin and bedroom storage. All three bedrooms share a useful WC on the same floor, and there is also a small cupboard with hanging space for clothes.

Although there isn’t a dedicated outdoor space for the property, the immediate outside area forms a natural shared terrace with a trickling gill running past it. You’ll have sole use of a small lockable shed which houses a tumble dryer and a small storage area for bikes.

This property is in dire need of some TLC and updating. On arrival in the rain, water was pouring from bloked or broken guttering over the entrance, which was itself blocked by some outside storage containers which must have blown over. Not great. Then we discover it is cold inside, as the night storage heaters no longer work, not mentioneRead mored in the documentation at all. Instead there are plug in heaters dotted around. The open fire in the lounge is lovely, but only once you've made the trip to Keswick to buy some fuel. Decor is poor, including some extraordinarily terrible artwork, there was plaster dust in the bathroom, a clothes hanger on a light fitting in the lounge, the upstairs toilet had something left in the U bend. Brambles are all around the car parking spaces, to snag the unwary. The saving graces are the lounge and main bedroom, and of course Borrowdale itself. This is a superb location for walking from the door, and to be fair, the price is low for a rental in this location. Hide

Stunning location with beautiful walks on the doorstep. Small but comfortable cottage. We stayed with our 3 teenagers. We decided not to take our large dog, which was the correct decision as it would have been very tight on space if he had joined us. Master bedroom nice and large. A little lovely little cottage in Borrowdale, the cottage was clean but rustic, amazing views! There were plenty of options for walking without moving your car, huge bonus. Travelled with a 3 yr & 8 months old & personally felt like the property wasnt baby friendly due to the extension leads around the house & electical heaters. That said, the cottage is in a fab location & is well equipped. The Sky Tv is a bonus.

The cottage is in a lovely, quiet location at the end of Borrowdale. It was a little cold and damp when we got there, but once we mastered the heating system things improved. We arrived to find the hot water tap in the kitchen hanging off the sink, making it dangerous to use. We contacted the managers, who arranged for it to be repaired within a coRead moreuple of hours. Well done! However, the location of the washing machine and tumble dryer in the bathroom was dangerous and possibly not legal? Hide

Amazing location! Walk straight into the hills and youre away! Log fire and plenty of hot water to return too. Rough and ready but perfect for a family who plan to spend most of the time walking and exploring this area.

The cottage is warm & cosy, situated in a great location, quiet, comfortable, well equipped and there is a bus stop near by should you wish to leave your car parked up.
