This property is located in a tranquil spot overlooking the Esthwaite Valley. There is a footpath leading directly from the property to the village of Hawkshead 0.5 miles away. Here, visitors will find some charming village pubs, a handful of shops, including a well-stocked deli, and several National Trust properties, including the workplace of Beatrix Potter’s husband William Heelis, which is now home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Of course, the real draw of the Lake District is the stunning landscape, dominated by lakes and mountains, and the property is in a prime location with Lake Windermere and Coniston Water both being within a five-mile drive.

Entering this detached property, guests first come to the tiled hallway, which gives access to the lounge/diner with its large dining table, comfortable sofas, multi-fuel stove, TV/DVD, and telephone. Across the hallway, there is a lovely thoughtfully equipped playroom with a range of toys, games, children’s books, and an additional TV/DVD. The kitchen, to the rear of the property has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer. There is also a convenient ground-floor WC. A short flight of stairs leads to the main bathroom, which benefits from a relaxing spa bath, separate shower cubicle, and WC. Continuing up the stairs, guests will come to the four bedrooms, two of these are king-size rooms (one with en-suite shower and WC), whilst the further two bedrooms are a twin and an attractive single room.

Outside, there is a beautiful garden with large sloping lawns leading down to a pretty stream with a small waterfall. This makes a great place for a paddle, but guests should ensure that children are supervised at all times. Steps lead up the garden towards the property, at the top of which there is a Lakeland stone terrace surrounding the cottage, providing guests with a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the tranquillity and stunning views. Snowdrops also carpet the garden during late winter. There is a coal shed with plenty of fuel for the stove.

Croft Head was a wonderful property for a multi generational holiday cottage with lots of outdoor space to explore. The setting is stunning and the house is comfortable and cosy with lots of hot water, fluffy towels and great beds for a good nights sleep. We had a lovely stay here, a great location for Hawshead and Windermere, However it could of been a lot cleaner, lots of dog dirt in the garden and tired looking interior too. The property would benefit from a little updating to reflect the cost.

This was our 3rd visit to Croft Head, we thoroughly enjoy staying there. We love the garden but this year there were a few dog poo bags that had been left in a pile, also some mess had not been cleared from the lawn

This is a lovely cottage in an amazing location, short walk (15 mins) across fields to Hawkshead. We all had a lovely time, cottage clean and well equipped. Gorgeous garden with two terraces to sit in and admire the views. It is enclosed, but not dog proof, if you have an escape artist (medium sized pointer cross in our case), who managed to climb Read morethe wall behind all the bushes by the entrance and jump down onto the lane. All in all, a wonderful holiday and property. Hide
