Before entering, take a moment to absorb the stunning views of local mountains and lakes. Head inside and find that the charm continues in the lounge thanks to its exposed ceiling beams and crackling wood burner. Lovely accommodation. Good location with short walk to pub, cafe and lakeside. Main weakness is the parking (room for 1 car). Although directed to nearby parking it was all very busy.

A prime spot near the banks of Buttermere. Beautiful local produce on arrival, which was very much appreciated. Fire made up. Very comfortable beds with high class linen and towels. All eco products and generous amounts of nice crockery and cutlery. The drying room is a godsend to get your kit dry, a very good selling point. Lots of games availableRead more, books and maps. All very handy for those rainy days. The views from the porch especially on a clear night take your breath away Hide

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location! We had a wonderful New Year's holiday - walks straight from the door, an easy stroll to the village cafs and the Bridge Inn, all of which have excellent food. The house was always warm, which was greatly appreciated in the subzero temperatures. And we covet the rainwater shower in the downstairs bedroom!Read more The only snag for us was the height of the kitchen and utility room ceilings, which at around 6'3" were too low for our 6'7" son. Everything was wonderful and perfect in the description! LOVED the place - the view from the back porch is amazing. The drive in from Keswick is CRAZY and not something I was prepared for or have experienced anything like it (Im from the US, and the road is borderline a 1 lane road with pull offs and narrow and winding). Wonderful cottage in idyllic location. It reminded us of places we stayed as children in the 1960s - slate floors, thick walls with views of sheep, fields and fells from every window. We liked that it wasnt luxurious - it felt like a much loved home.

A glorious week at Bowderbeck. Sitting on the veranda in warm sun looking across the lake towards Red Pike will live with us for many years. The house provided loads of space for us four old boys with fabulous walking from the front door. Will definitely return

We are just back from an exceptional stay at this beautiful cottage. It turned out to be the perfect location for our group. We walked straight out of the house. Swam several times in beautiful Buttermere lake and even made use of one of the paddle boards that are kindly provided. We shall return. Thank you
