Swallowdale is an exceptional property with everything you need to enjoy your week away. Location is ideal to explore the South Lakes with the steam train running to lakeside (not much there but the cafe seems exceptional value - dont be caught out with the poor value food in the nearby hotel!) Ulverston is ideal to pick up shopping for self cateriRead moreng and the climb up Hoad Hill to the lighthouse isnt too demanding. The village of Hawkshead is lovely and the gingerbread shop should be a must for anyone coming to this area. Tarn Hows is also a great beginners walk with stunning views and close to Hawkshead and Coniston. At Coniston is the Coniston Inn which has lovely food and a beer garden bordering the lake. The cottage itself gives amazing views, is comfy and ideal for a self catering holiday with a washer/dryer. Theres 3 toilets in the property which would make this cottage ideal for a family trip. Loved this property & would highly recommend. It was clean and well equipped. Kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked every evening rather than go after out after a hard day of walking. Lounge very comfortable and had beautiful views across the fields. The beds and pillows were lovely. Was a little apprehensive about road noise (previous reRead moreviewer) but it did not detract from a good night's sleep. A small problem was sorted with the owner within a couple of hours - very impressed. Hide

Very tidy cottage, clean, very well equiped, lovely views, reasonably good location to the lakes and other facilities. Would hapily book again, it suited us fine. My only comment would be that the converted barn cottage is on multiple levels with lots of stairs, so might not be ideal for less mobile occupants, other than that a very good, pleasant Read morestay. We had a lovely week at Swallowdale, there is so much to do in the area. The house itself is beautifully done, with stunning views from upstairs. It has everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Visitors should be aware that there are a lot of stairs in this property, and that the parking space is highly unlikely to fit 2 cars. A really lovely cottage . Very very well equipped. Quite isolated, no amenities in Haverthwaite except a local pub within walking distance either across fields or on roads without pavements. You can of course drive there..unfortunately our car broke down and we were without transport for a week!

The weather was snowing and then torrential rain and wind but the house was cozy and warm. Spotlessly clean, beautiful comfy beds, in fact perfect in every way. Have stayed there twice and will continue to do so. Thank you to the owner and the person who makes the house ready for the next visitors.
