Take to the water and hire paddleboards or let someone else do the hard work as you take a ride on the gondola. Lake Windermere is the largest natural lake in England and is well worth a trip. 10.5 miles from the vibrant town of Bowness-on-Windermere, enjoy all the area has to offer and walk, boat and explore your way around the water and the water’s edge. If you fancy staying local, hop on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for a train journey to remember.

Arrive at this pretty, slate-built cottage and step inside to make yourselves at home. The open-plan living space creates a welcoming hub of the home where you can spend lazy mornings, chilled afternoons and cosy evenings. Perfectly positioned around the warming wood burner, the pair of comfortable sofas invite you to sink in and relax in front of the TV/DVD or with a good book in hand. The spacious, light kitchen area has all you need for your designated chef. After plating up at the table, enjoy a communal meal reminiscing on the days adventures and planning the next. Flooding the space with natural light, the French doors open out to the courtyard garden, letting the outside in. Rest weary heads upstairs in the double bedroom and the twin bedroom which are decorated with pretty patterns and calming, neutral tones. Views reach across the pretty Lakeland houses and out over the front garden and both bedrooms are lovely spots in which to switch off and snuggle down. Flooded with light from the skylight, the family bathroom has a tub for you to soak in and a shower over the bath for a quick freshen up.

Offering the perfect place to sip your morning coffee or to sit with a tipple on balmy evenings, the courtyard garden has a table and chairs and is surrounded by pretty borders. There is parking for one car outside the property, from which steps lead down to the garden.

Very handy, clean cottage. Great location for accessing Furness peninsula & Lakes, although hard to spot when first arrived as unknowingly came from other end of the village (first left after station) & 'Orchard Cottages' signs were on the ground, not eye level. Well-equipped kitchen, nice shower, enough space & storage. Twin room is small - kept bRead moreanging legs getting to further away bed, which is uncomfy. Ended up piling blankets under sheet to not feel springs. Otherwise, nice stay - thanks! Hide

Curtains in the main bedroom could be improved relative to ensuring no early-morning light.

Lovely cottage in a great area. It is very well equipped with everything you would need. The outdoor space was a lovely place to have breakfast and it was very handy having the parking close by. The kitchen is great, really enjoyed using it to cook. The bathroom is really lovely too. Whole place very clean.

Very good spot to access the southern lakes from and also not too far from Ulverston. Parking was also no issue. The cottage was generally clean and well equipped, our main issue was a strong odour of wet dog that remained downstairs the whole week. I appreciate it is a dog friendly property but this might put off non-doggy people if it is persisteRead morent. In the height of summer the upstairs got up to 28 degrees at night so could do with a fan. I liked the bathroom and the kitchen was well equipped. Hide

A lovely cottage in a good location. Cottage was roomy enough for us and our dog, the kitchen was well equipped and the lounge had plenty of space. We visited both Coniston and Windermere and surrounding towns and villages. The weather was kind to us which made it easier to get around and see the sights.
