A pair of picturesque lakes can be found in Grasmere and offer lovely spots to enjoy a waterside wander or some peace and quiet. 5 miles from home, find the busier lake of Windermere which you can explore from Ambleside. Book a cruise or hire your own boats to take to the water and make a splash. Treat yourself to a delicious meal in Bowness-on-Windermere (10.5 miles) where you can also play a round of golf on the green at Windermere Golf Club. If there are any Wordsworth fans among you, visit Dove Cottage, a mile from home, where the writer lived from 1799.

After walks, leave coats, shoes and leads in the entrance hall before heading upstairs to the living space. With splashes of colour and country style, the kitchen/diner is equipped with all you need to cook up feasts from breakfast to dinner. Find two electric ovens, a grill, gas and ceramic hobs, a handy microwave, fridge/freezer, useful washer/dryer and dishwasher. Rustle up something tasty before plating up and dining together at the table. Stay warm after dinner and make your way through to the lounge with its large corner sofa and roaring wood burner. Perfect for film nights or lazy mornings, the lounge has a Smart TV with streaming services. The first of three inviting bedrooms can be found on the first floor. Get cosy under the covers in the super king bedroom which can be made up as a twin on request at time of booking. This room has a TV so you can enjoy watching your favourite show in peace. The family shower room with WC completes this floor. Climb stairs to the second floor where the final two bedrooms await tired heads. Both rooms are king-size with TVs and boast luxury bathrooms with WCs where you can soak in the free-standing tubs and large, walk-in showers. Both bathrooms have sloping ceilings, please take care.

After long days, take a tipple outside to the enclosed patio and bask in the fresh air to unwind. There are benches and a small table which you can pile high with treats. There is private parking for two cars and on-road parking nearby. For guest use only and free of charge, there is an Easee One, Type 2 untethered 7KW electric vehicle charger. You will need to provide your own charging lead compatible with a type 2 charging socket.

A great cosy cottage and fantastic location to explore the Lakes. The cottage was well equipped & there was a lovely welcome hamper. The house and fittings/facilities etc were fantastic, very comfortable for our party of 5 and the location was spot on - just a short 5-10 minute stroll into the centre of Grasmere. The only (very) slight negative was that we couldn't just open a door to let the dog out into the garden due to the fact that garden access was via a gate from next to Read morethe car parking space, not direct from the house, however this did not detract from the excellent property and we would definitely return in future! Fantastic cottage on two upper floors with lovely views over to Helm Crag. Kitted out to a high specification with multiple TVs and modern furnishings. A lot of thought had gone into providing consumables like dishwasher tablets, tea bags etc. The bottles of beer and wine went down well. The cottage is in a great location - 200m or so from GrasmereRead more centre, near shops and many pubs and restaurants. Hide
