Gosforth is a cosy little village nestled between the mountains and the sea on the western fringe of the Lake District National Park. It boasts four pubs, a busy village shop, a cafe and restaurant and a great network of walks. Families are well catered for with an excellent play park in the village as well, or should you wish to do some messing about on the water, then why not try your hand at stand-up paddle boarding on Wastwater or kayaking down the crystal-clear River Esk? Muncaster Castle makes a great family day out just 6 miles away. It's a historic (and legend has it, haunted) gem, set in stunning grounds with lots of events going on for visitors throughout the year.

As soon as you walk into this property, you will feel a world away from everything and ready for your holiday. The lounge, located on the first floor, has all you need to relax and unwind, with a smart TV surrounded by two sofas and two armchairs. The modern kitchen is designed with ease in mind, with plenty of worktop space and a breakfast bar, large electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. Next, is the conservatory which offers lovely views out over the garden and is a peaceful setting with comfy seating to enjoy some TV, a good book, or an evening drink. Finally on the ground floor is the dining room with some wonderful features such as the glass wall. There is a utility area located on the lower ground floor with a washing machine and bike storage. Onto the first floor, is the master bedroom with a king-size bed and plenty of storage space. Next is a super-king-size zip-and-link which can be made up as a twin on request, with an additional single bed in the alcove suitable for a child, with lovely views over the fells. Next door is the newly installed shower room and WC. Along the corridor is the brand new main bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Up the stairs on the second floor is the last bedroom, which is a triple room (3 single beds), and again this offers amazing views.

The garden offers a lovely lawned area with a seating area and a charcoal BBQ. There is also a covered area for storing bikes or other outdoor equipment. There is roadside parking, subject to availability.

Very pretty house and garden. Just like the pictures. Plenty of super soft towels, tea towels and lovely bedding and comfy beds. Plenty of hot water/heating good showers. Really well equipped with crockery and cutlery. Full oven instructions were missing and oven did not heat hot enough even though correct temperature setting was selected. A coRead moreurtesy pot of instant coffee, tea bags and sweeteners available as well as some dishwash tablets, washing up liquid/sponge scourer and loo rolls. However no salt or pepper/foil/cling film/paper towel roll - these things I usually find in most s-c holiday homes so didnt pack or have delivered so that was disappointing. BBQ would benefit from a new grill rack as it was too rusty to cook on. Importantly - No healthcare information in the info packs - I would expect this as standard for visitors as the village is quite isolated and our group needed both pharmacy and hospital services unexpectedly. Great info on what to do in the case of Sellafield Power Station having an incident - that was important and an unexpected leaflet! Hide

It is a very comfortable, well equipped cottage in a great location. Two very nice pubs and good food less than 5 minutes walk away (Kellbank and Gosforth Hall). The cottage is in lovely quiet village which meant a good nights sleep was had by all( no traffic noise). Although we were told we could park 1 car outside the cottage this did not happen, all the spaces in the street were taken by other vehicles. The cottage itself was spacious and the grandchildren loved the space on the landing to play.

We especially spent a lot of time in the conservatory. There are already beautiful walks to enjoy from the village itself. The village does have a good bakery that sells delicious rolls and pies.!ENDOFSELECTED! Hide
