We had seen a few comments about cleanliness but never expected it to be as bad as it was. Every utensil and pot was covered in food. The cupboards and drawers were filthy. It was cold with hardly any heating. The windows are old and need replacing. The noise of the beck was horrendous which could easily be rectified with new windows. When we arrived the kitchen was dirty, the carpets hadnt been cleaned. There were dirty tissues under the beds and the bins hadnt been emptied. The company were quick to rectify but it spoilt the start of our holiday. The cottages location is great but the whole house felt tired and tatty and definitely needs a deep clean.

This is a lovely little cottage in a great location. It's an easy walk straight up into the fells behind with multiple wainwrights within walking distance of the cottage. Unfortunately the slats on one side of the master bed kept falling out making it impossible to sleep on. The water pressure in the en suite bathroom was so low that the shower didRead moren't work. There is parking for 1 car but a local complained that parking a second car restricted their access to a track. Hide

Great location; love the mountain stream outside - and the woodland walk up onto Skiddaw on the doorstep. Comfortable situation- quickly felt like home. Close to Keswick but nestled in a lovely quiet spot. Would happily return.

Perfect location, very peaceful, lovely walks from the door. Unfortunately cleanliness issues means I wouldn't stay here again- on arrival the smell in the kitchen was appalling - tracked it down to a bin in a cupboard full of rubbish, clearly not emptied for some time. Gorgeous cottage and location, just a few issues with the showers ( temperature very temperamental .. we can cope with low water pressure but freezing to boiling is tricky!) easy access, lovely little garden and great location for walks. Quite tight for dining table in kitchen, but weather was amazing so we could eat outside!

Love this cottage. Second time staying here and will be back. Please do not think this is an easy climb to bathroom and bedrooms as the stairs are steep, so for those with mobility issues, possibly not for you. Also not for someone in a low sports car as the lane up is rutted and steep.

Beck View was a well appointed property at the foot of Skiddaw. Very comfortable and nice features in this traditional mill workers building. Parking is a wee bit tight in a shared lane.
