  • Charming cottage for you and your four legged friend
  • Just 4 miles from popular Ullswater, on the edge of the Lake District National Park
Property code: OC-SZ276

Set in the heart of the popular village of Stainton, this property is a short walk from a friendly 18th-century pub. The village is home to a hotel with a good restaurant, and a village shop which also operates as a post office. Ideally located for exploring the northern part of the Lake District, the cottage is just 4 miles North of Ullswater, where lakeside walks, picnics, kayaking and cruising on the Ullswater Steamers can all be enjoyed. Discover local history at nearby Lowther Castle or browse the independent shops and eateries of Penrith or Keswick. On the edge of the village The Alpaca Clothing Company is well worth a visit, or just a short drive away is the Rheged Centre offering shops, cafes and a 3D cinema.

Tastefully refurbished, this cosy cottage retains much of its 18th-century charm while also offering plenty of 21st-century home comforts. With exposed beams, a grandmother clock, a wood burner-effect electric fire and pleasant views across the green, the lounge is the perfect spot to relax with a good book or make use of the Smart TV. At the rear of the property, a modern kitchen with a slate floor contains an electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and large Smeg fridge with an ice compartment. Homecooked meals can be enjoyed in the adjoining dining room where the French doors leading outside, can be open or closed depending on the weather. An open-tread staircase leads up to the first floor, where the two bedrooms are located. An elegant double overlooks the village green, while the single includes a desk and chair, should anyone need to work while away. There is also a modern bathroom with shower over the bath. The air source heat pump keeps the cottage cosy and warm.

Step outside from the kitchen onto a sheltered raised patio area complete with a table and chairs for enjoying al fresco meals in the sunshine. The outside tap is useful for washing off muddy boots and paws. There is off road parking at the property for one car.

Jesmond Cottage was a really lovely place to stay, very comfortable and extremely well equipped especially in the kitchen. A knife sharpener would be a good addition. Jesmond Cottage was an absolute delight. We were so pleased with it from arrival to departure. Really wish we could have stayed longer. The location is great, and it is really cosy and comfortable. Jesmond cottage is a first class cottage. The place was clean, well supplied with equipment and nicely decorated. The only very minor thing was no tea towels. The village is quiet and everywhere was easy from the village. The local pub is good but beware opening times are limited.
