Was plenty big enough for 6 adults and 1 dog. Very well equipped and location was a good base away from busy Keswick. Lots of books and games to keep us occupied whilst storm Amy passed over. Would stay again

This was a perfect cottage for our party of 7 attending the Keswick convention as we could walk there and back - a very pleasant walk over the fields. Nice big kitchen to eat in. Comfy sofas in the sitting room Very light cottage. Stunning views from master bedroom.

The location, at the foot of Skiddaw was amazing with ever-changing views of the mountains from the master bedroom windows especially. Its super close to Keswick for supplies. The cottage was comfortable with a log fire in the front room and a good sized kitchen. We had a lovely Christmas break in Scar Cottage.

Lovely walks from the cottage up Skiddaw/ Latrigg / Dodd - no need for a car for any of these. Nearest pub is in Keswick which is a field and footpath walk (unless you do main roads) - tricky in the dark home. One footpath crosses the A66 so best to do longer walk via Cumbria Way and footbridge. Lovely relaxing sitting room but you can only see theRead more (stunning) views standing up and no views from other windows downstairs. Great fire and cosy in the evening. This is a lovely house in a fabulous location. Applethwaite is a tiny hamlet, but only 5 minutes drive from central Keswick. Very well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Weve stayed here for 5 years in a row and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful cottage in a great location. Large enough for the whole family and our dogs! The kitchen and living room are lovely with all the equipment you need. The bedrooms (except the master bedroom) are small and the beds are not the most comfortable. The house could be cleaner in areas too. But overall a good stay and good area to travel around tRead morehe north lakes. Hide
