Hawkshead is one of the region’s most popular villages, thanks to its associations with writers Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. The Beatrix Potter Gallery is here, with its changing exhibitions about the author and her work, whilst visitors can take a look inside the historic Grammar School where Wordsworth was once a pupil. Lake Windermere is just five miles to the east of the property, whilst Coniston Water is around the same distance to the west. There are plentiful opportunities for walking and climbing within easy reach of the property, allowing visitors to be able to make the most of this stunning region.

Entering this property through the pretty porch, guests first come to a hallway, off from which they will find the cosy and homely lounge. The beams and open fire, add to the atmosphere of this room, where there is comfortable seating from which guests may like to watch the Smart TV at the end of a busy day. Across the hallway from the lounge is the dining room which also benefits from an open fire. An archway leads from the dining room through to the kitchen which is equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, microwave and slow cooker, whilst the utility room, just off from the kitchen, is where guests will find the freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. A door from here leads out to the patio. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms which are all decorated in a pretty cottage-style, in keeping with the property. The main bedroom is a king-size double, whilst there is also a twin, and a bunk bedroom. The property’s stylish bathroom, which is also located on the first floor, offers a power shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the property benefits from an enclosed patio to the rear of the cottage, which has tables, seating, and a BBQ.

A beautiful, comfortable and well situated cottage. It lacks for nothing and I'm already recommending it to others. Very close to a shop and pubs.

Wonderful cottage with perfect location in Hawkshead Main Street. The cottage is cosy, with plenty of room, and everything you need. Lots of beautiful walks from the cottage. We have been here before and will rent this cottage again when in Hawkshead

Barn Syke Cottage is a thoroughly charming house in a proper traditional village cottage style, with real working fireplaces ( which we very much appreciate ) and a lovely friendly ambience. The welcome pack from Jeremy and Diane lets you know from the start this is a cottage run by people who know how and care. And this care is evident right throuRead moregh from the high level of equipment to the excellent maintenence. We have stayed here several times now and will be back again - 'nough said. Hide

The welcome pack was wonderful and the level of kitchen equipment was better than we've come across in almost 30 years of coming to the lakes. We will definately be returning.

We spent a lovely week in the cottage. The location was great with a well stocked small Co-op and 2 really welcoming pubs a short walk away. We went on several walks from Hawkshead as well as using it as a base to explore the Southen Lakes. The cottage was very cosy with excellent internet connection, comfortable beds and living room and a well equRead moreipped kitchen. Having a small outdoor area was very handy for the dog. We would love to return. Hide

Excellent cottage. Well equipped. Very cosy and comfy. Very clean. Quiet location. Fantastic location for walks and seeing the Lake District. Cafes, a chippy, Pubs that do food and a local grocery store all within a 2 minute walk. Parking space also minutes away and always had plenty of spaces. Had a great week away.

The Cottage is fantastic! Clean, really well furnished, cosy and the perfect place to relax after a hard day walking! The beds were comfy, and the log fires a real bonus. The location is ideal as there are places to eat and get provisions but at the same time feels very quiet and relaxed. Locals were really friendly and really want to go back!
