Perched on a peaceful, private hillside lane, 3 miles from the lively heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, this idyllic home offers a perfect blend of seclusion and convenience. Wake up to mesmerising lake views, then set out to explore – whether it’s a gentle lakeside stroll, fell climb, a scenic cruise on a Windermere steamer, or an adventurous kayak trip ( from Fell Foot Park or Bowness). The cottage is an ideal base for discovering the Lake District’s gems, with Ambleside (9.5 miles), Windermere (5.5 miles), and Grasmere (14 miles) all within easy reach. Step into the magical World of Beatrix Potter (4 miles), or seek thrills at Brockholes Activity Centre (7 miles), home to zip-lining, treetop trampolines, and more. For breathtaking vistas, a short drive leads to Orrest Head (5.5 miles) in Windermere, offering some of the region’s most stunning panoramas.

Inside, the cottage welcomes you at the front with a spacious glass fronted ‘serenity room’, designed for admiring the stunning views over the lake, the fells beyond and the sunsets. The cosy family lounge behind the serenity room features a log burner and ample seating, while the well-equipped kitchen ensures hearty meals after a day on the fells. The kitchen has a utility room with a washer/dryer and a sink. The dining room adjacent to the kitchen, utility area, and cloakroom completes the ground floor. Up a small set of stairs, just off the lounge is the first of the three bedrooms, a delightful king-size. Heading up to the first floor you can find the other two bedrooms, a super-king boasting spectacular views towards the lake and another king-size. Across the hall is a cosy study, again with breathtaking views, and a sofa. The family bathroom completes the property, with a bath and separate walk-in shower.

Outside, the property continues to truly shine – wander through the landscaped rock gardens, relax in the summer room by the duck pond, or dine alfresco on the terrace, taking in the vista as the sun dips behind the fells beyond the lake. The enclosed garden borders ancient woodland, where wildlife including deer, badgers, pheasants, grouse and wild ducks, amongst other wild birds, visit the property’s gardens and roam freely.
Please note: The property is accessed via a steep drive and has multiple steps, so it is not suited for those with limited mobility.

Lovely house in an excellent position with a resident peacock and spectacular views. Kitchen was workable but needed a few more bigger pans if you are cooking for 6. Also take your own ice tray/ bags as there is nothing to make ice in. I had to clean the inside of the kitchen cupboards before putting our food in. Small things that make a differRead moreence but I would still recommend this house as the location makes up for it. Hide

Lovely location close to Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere but with the advantage of also being quiet, peaceful and with beautiful views and vistas. Clean, tidy and well appointed with good local information provided.

We had a lovely stay in this cottage and enjoyed the fantastic views from the property. It was nice and quiet with very pretty garden areas. The bed was comfortable and lots of space in the property. A doggy stair gate was provided which was very useful! Some minor things could be improved in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Overall it was fine Read morebut on the expensive side. We would stay here again. Hide

What an amazing find. The property exceeded our expectations. The views were incredible. The house spotless and beds very comfortable. A great location for us as only 10 minutes from Windermere train station and a short drive into town centre. Quick response when we had questions. I would not hesitate to recommend.

The house is spacious, good storage and garden with friendy peacock. The beds were clean and comfy. We felt we paid a premium price which should have had attention to detail. The place was only warmed through about the time we left.

Waited all year for this holiday break and was very disappointed overall. The garden was advertised as enclosed and having an elderly dog this was very important to us - it wasn't secure at all in the front garden where the dog was allowed. It wasn't secure in the back garden either (where the dog wasn't allowed, which we knew) but for anyone witRead moreh children you would need to know this. The garden was also overgrown, long grass areas, borders and planters full of weeds, which I was shocked at, it felt very unloved and not looked after. The kitchen area was ok but ready for a makeover, with loose drawer fronts that when you opened one drawer, the one underneath opened too. The fridge and microwave had clearly been replaced since the fitting of the original kitchen but were smaller than before leaving a gap and raw edges to the woodwork. The blinds in the living room - the main picture window were electronic but not working. This was made worse by the sign pinned on the wall above them saying the owner was aware and going to replace! During the day/early evening we couldn't use the TV because of the sun streaming in and at night we had no privacy when it got dark. The other blind at the back of the room was also broken and had to stay down because you couldn't pull it back up, but you could at least tilt it to allow light in. The seating area in the living room wouldn't seat 6 people, only 5 too. On a positive, the upstairs was comfortable and clean. The views from the property were beautiful. Hide
