Sat at the foot of Skiddaw, the views are breathtaking, and with walks from your front door available, the local area has so much to offer you and your fellow guests. From tours and tastings around The Lakes Distillery, sailing and water sports on Lake Bassenthwaite to visits to the Lake District Wildlife Park or walking alpacas, you’re sure to find something for everyone.

This pretty cottage has lots of traditional features and has a home-from-home feel to it. Walking through the front gate and up the path, you will enter the house and find a lobby area that offers space for your muddy walking boots and coats. Move through into the lounge with its beamed ceiling and cosy wood burner, and find a Smart TV and comfy sofas waiting, offering you the perfect place to curl up and watch a good movie after a day out exploring. Off the lounge is the formal dining area which has views over Skiddaw. Next to the lounge is the country kitchen, which is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, slimline dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine and fridge/freezer. There is a utility room off the kitchen which has a washing machine and an additional fridge. On the ground floor just by the utility room, there is also a handy bathroom with a shower and WC. From the lounge you can head upstairs to the first floor, with handrail to the left-hand side of the stairs, here you will find three bedrooms: two king size and one small single. Due to the age of the property, two of the bedrooms do have low ceilings in places, but this just adds to the character and charm. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, there is a pretty country garden to the side of the cottage - it is a lovely spot to sit out on a summer's evening and read or make plans for the rest of your stay. There is no private parking, but there is lots of parking in the village and just outside of the property which is unrestricted (subject to availability).

Fantastic little cottage with a stunning view of the mountains. The kitchen is well-appointed and the garden is fully enclosed, which is great for the dogs. Short walk to the local pub, ~10 minutes to Keswick and ~15 to Cockermouth. Plenty of excellent walking and hiking trails nearby, including Skiddaw and Ullock Pike.

Beautiful cottage in a fantastic and tranquil location. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the equipment provided from DVDs to an extra fridge. The food in the local pub was really good also. The views over to Skiddaw from the cottage were unforgettable.

Had a really lovely week in green cottage, the cottage is beautiful and well kept. Gardens are lovely, as is the village. Lovely welcome pack in arrival including dog treats. They do provide a dog towel and dog toys. The Sun Inn in bassenthwaite do gluten free food too which is great for my coeliac husband. Would definitely stay again.

Green Cottage is a real gem tucked away in Bassenthwaite Village but not too far from shops and amenities by car or bus. We enjoyed our week at the cottage and would love to have stayed a while longer. Will definitely be returning. Cottage very comfortable and peaceful with good selection of reading material and games for adults and children.

Very well appointed accommodation close to prime hiking spots. Remote, but still a short drive to Keswich or Cockermouth. Plenty of space for a family or for several friends looking for a week away in the Lake District. Will definitely be staying again.
