Brand new to HolidayCottages for 2026 following a full renovation

For a very special holiday escape with family or friends, this superb property offers space for up to ten guests to relax and unwind in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, with a fantastic choice of walks straight from the door. Discover forests, rivers and rock pools on foot, or try your hand at climbing or scrambling nearby. Tucked away in the stunning Duddon Valley, one of the most tranquil parts of the Lake District, the house is just 3 miles from the nearest pub at Seathwaite and 4.5 miles from Broughton-in-Furness, which has shops, pubs and a café serving home-cooked food. You can also explore the nearby towns and villages, including Millom (10 miles) with its folk museum, and Ravenglass (11 miles), home to the famous miniature steam railway through Eskdale. Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, is around 15 miles away for those looking for a bigger challenge.

This handsome, double-fronted stone house is arranged over three storeys and blends character features with modern comforts, including slate floors, oak floorboards and some original beams. As befits a historic property, there are some internal steps and areas of lower ceiling height. You can enter either through the front door or via a side entrance which is ideal for coats and muddy boots. The spacious kitchen/diner is well equipped for holiday catering, with an induction hob, double oven and dishwasher, and also features a wood burner, large dresser and grandfather clock. There is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a downstairs WC. The comfortable lounge has plenty of seating, another wood burner and a Smart TV, making it perfect for cosy evenings in.

On the first floor, there are four bedrooms: an en-suite king, an en-suite twin, and two further superking bedrooms. Please note there are steps down into both en-suite shower rooms. There is a third shower room on the half-landing with a rainfall shower. The top floor is a bright attic space with sloping ceilings and original beams, and includes a relaxed sitting area with TV, ideal as a breakout space for younger guests, as well as the final kingsize bedroom.

Outside, there is a large garden which is mainly laid to lawn and includes a pretty summer house. Please note that although the garden is enclosed on some sides, it is not fully enclosed. Beyond the summer house, there is a stream and wooded area which do not form part of the garden and are not fenced off. There is also a pond tucked away at the far corner of the garden behind rhododendron bushes. For these reasons, children and dogs must be supervised at all times when outside.

There is private parking for two cars, an electric vehicle charging point, and additional on-street parking opposite the house.
