From the back door, explore the beautiful fells of the national park, including Black Crag, or head out on two wheels to Grizedale Forest (1 mile) for mountain biking opportunities. Walk less than 2 miles to the National Trust’s Tarn Hows, with its woodland walks and waterfalls. Venture 3 miles to Coniston Water to board a steam yacht gondola out on the water. While away an afternoon in Ambleside, 4 miles away, meandering through the shops and pausing for tea in a cafe. From here, make your way just over 0.5 miles to take a cruise on Windermere, England’s largest lake.

Let your friends and family into this friendly, three-storey Lake District hideaway to discover it has ample space for you all. From the front door, make your way into the open-plan kitchen/diner, with its beamed ceiling. Prepare hearty meals in here for your party, then set the long, wooden table as your feast roasts in the range-style oven. Take a step down into the games room to challenge each other to table football or darts. There is also a sofa in here and access to a WC. Climb the stairs up to the first floor of the house to emerge in a generous hallway leading to the rear terrace and your private parking space. Take a step down into the welcoming lounge, where you can gather for movie nights and stoke up the wood burner during the autumn and winter months. Two of your bedrooms, the attractive super-king-size and the twin, are also here, together with the family bathroom. Venture on up to the top level of the property to find a family suite encompassing a gorgeous double bedroom leading to a dressing room and another double bedroom. There is also a handy family shower room on this floor.

It is a superbly equipped house, probably one of the best we have used and very well situated. Extremely comfortable and the Games Room was very popular with our grandchildren. I guess that the only failing was the lack of proper garden space but this was not a problem for us.

We had a wonderful stay at The Coach House. It was a really comfortable and cosy house, the kitchen was perfect for large meals and very well equipped, with a brilliant games room for general entertaining. We were two families who all fit very well in the house with lots of space to relax and unwind in the cosy living room. Great games and a smart Read moretv. The location was perfect for walks straight out of the back of the house including some gentler ones for smaller kids or more taxing for adults. The local pub The Drunken Duck did lovely food and is close by, along with easy access to Hawkshead, Ambleside etc. We are already talking about our next visit to this house! Hide
