Make the 4.5 mile trip to Glenridding where you can board an Ullswater Steamer and enjoy a cruise of the lake. Jump off at Howtown, where you can walk to Glenridding and catch the boat back to Pooley Bridge. This was one of Wordsworth's favourite walks and offers views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. The views from the property are outstanding, and if you can drag yourself away you can enjoy a day at Whinlatter Forest which is under 20 miles away, with some great bike tracks, walking and running trails. Go Ape is brilliant for those wanting to get their adrenalin pumping.

It is the ideal spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading out to explore, or have a romantic meal in the evening while looking out to the star filled skies. Head up to the first floor from the stairs which lead from the lounge, here you will find a king-size bedroom which has two windows overlooking the fells, this view is just a dream to wake up to! There is a bathroom next door with a bath to enjoy a good long soak after a long day walking or cycling!

There is a pretty, enclosed garden to the front of the cottage with a stream running through it, which is a great place to sit with a morning coffee or a good book on a sunny day. There is also a private back garden that is accessible straight out of the back door.

An absolute dream cottage. The sun rises over the fells in the mornings, it's cosy, very well equipped, quiet and made the perfect Christmas retreat. There is a lot of thought and character in the cottage and we were greeted by a Christmas tree and some generous welcome gifts. I really couldn't have asked for more. It's a fairly short distance to ARead moreira Force, which is a great walk, and ten minutes from the local pub. Very grateful to our hosts and we'll definitely be back. Hide

A very cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Clean and well equipped. A lovely footpath from the cottage is perfect for early dog walks. The only area for improvement is we would have liked some logs.

It was perfect. Looking out from the windows or the front garden was so peaceful. We loved walking straight from the cottage without using the car. I cant believe there were even dog bowls
