Located on a working farm between the North Pennines and the Lake District, this comfortable country property welcomes couples and small families for an unforgettable escape. Explore hiking trails from your door, or take the children to the heated outdoor swimming pool in Lazonby, 4 miles. Drive the incredible Hartside Pass, starting 4 miles away and reaching a height of 1,904 feet, with incredible views over the Solway Firth to Scotland. The Lake District National Park is just 15 miles away, where you can enjoy lake cruises, stunning walks and cycle routes, and tour picturesque villages such as Pooley Bridge, 15 miles, and Keswick, 27.5 miles. Visit the dramatic ruins of Lowther Castle, 17 miles away, where there are also an excellent adventure playground and stunning gardens. Alston, 11 miles away, is home to cobbled streets with quaint shops and places to eat, as well as an award-winning narrow-gauge railway.

Follow the stone path and through the door into the kitchen, where you’ll find everything you’ll need to create delicious holiday food, including a microwave. There’s a breakfast bar for two people to perch, sipping a morning coffee or chatting with the cook, and when you stroll further into the property you’ll find a separate dining room with handsome antique furniture and plenty of space to gather for celebratory meals. From the hallway, turn left into the inviting lounge, where soft seating invites you to snuggle up with a good book as you admire the far-reaching rural views. There’s also a Smart TV so you can stream your favourite shows, and a wood-burner-effect electric fire which adds to the cosy appeal. Still on the ground floor, there are two restful bedrooms, both benefiting from those lovely views and sharing a sleek family bathroom.

A lawned garden with flower beds wraps around the property, offering plenty of space for little ones to run and play. We had a lovely stay in this very well appointed rural cottage on a working farm. Tim and Janet were very welcoming and hospitable. We were lucky enough to have great weather for local walks or just sitting outside the cottage watching the lambs in the field.
