Panoramic views of Lake Windermere are promised from this picturesque house on the water's edge, a fantastic place to escape to for a fun-filled Lakeland break. Set on the side of a wooded hill, this property offers immediate access to the banks of the lake, ideal for those bringing paddleboards or kayaks along. Walks and bike rides around the circumference of the lake present plenty of opportunities for wildlife spotting and getting out into nature – take note of the Gummer's How walk, a fantastic route for admiring lake views, with a pub at its end (3.5 miles). Bowness-on-Windermere, just 3.5 miles away, is a delightful base featuring a lively town centre, plenty of options for boat hire and The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, a favourite among families. Explore the town's independent cinema on a rainy day or make your way to Cockshot Point when the sun shines (3 miles) to admire the view.

Home comforts await in this homely two-storey place, an inviting space to truly relax in. Make your way inside to find the heart of the house – a sociable dine-in kitchen – on the ground floor. Picture windows display a view of the lake to be admired whilst rustling up dinners and washing up, and there's space to sit down and eat together at the breakfast bar or dining table. A separate utility room houses laundry facilities, and there's also a handy shower room on this floor. Completing the downstairs is the largest of three bedrooms, featuring a super-king-size bed and views of the woodland gardens. Continuing up to the first floor, the lounge has been designed to maximise the wonderful landscapes that surround it. Feel free to switch the TV on or simply sit and admire the views whilst plotting the day's adventures ahead. Two further bedrooms can be found on this floor – a double and a twin – each with warm, welcoming interiors, and a family bathroom with a bath completes the property's offering.

Get outside and spend time in the garden, soaking up that fresh Cumbrian air and keeping an eye out for interesting wildlife whilst you relax amongst nature. Outdoor seating on the paved patio is ideal for alfresco dining, and you've got woodlands and lake access to explore as well. Private parking for up to three cars is also available.

The house was clean and very welcoming. There was milk in the fridge which was appreciated. We found a layout of the house very quirky. The views were great. It has great proximity to Bowness.

Our stay at Beech How Cottage was lovely. It was peaceful, only a few minutes drive from Bowness, and we had our own footpath down to the shore on Windermere. Whenever I asked a question leading up to our stay, the host responded very quickly and with clear details. My only point of note would be that the driveway is worn away and my car (a Ford FoRead morecus - so fairly average family car) scraped its underside on the driveway. After a couple of goes I managed to avoid the scraping by driving to one side of the drive to avoid the deep worn areas. An improvement to the driveway or even a simple sign would have avoided the scrapes to the car. Other than that, peaceful, well located cottage. Hide

We had a wonderful stay at Beech How Cottage. The bottle of Prosecco and milk in the fridge were lovely touches. The garden is wild and beautiful with a zigzag path down to Windermere. Our dogs loved it and so did we. 5 minutes drive from Bowness the location is great. We hope to be back in the future.

The setting of the property, picturesque views, proximity to the lake. The house itself was well laid out and equipped.

Loved our stay here! It was such a luxury to have direct access to the lake! The path to the lake was well maintained and made the steep hill easy to navigate. Amazing views from the house, extremely quiet and absolutely perfect for our dogs. Would love to go back and stay longer.

Superb location right on the lake . The place is much better than the photos . Location is a 3 min to drive to the town centre. The best place to stay in Lake District. The view is to die for . Strongly recommended!!!
