A delightful Lakeland hideaway for couples and small families, this lovely cottage benefits from a superb setting in Ambleside. Sleeping three guests, the two-bedroom retreat is within 150 metres of an array of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. It is also well located for those wishing to head out across the Lake District National Park to explore the magnificent landscape and discover incredible beauty spots. Keen climbers may wish to tackle Wansfell Pike, 1.5 miles away, and Loughrigg Fell, 2.5 miles away. Walk less than 1 mile down to Waterhead to find yourselves on the shores of beautiful Windermere. Here you can also board a cruise out onto the water. Disembark at Lakeside, at the northern tip of Windermere, or at Bowness in the middle. Plan a trip to Ullswater, 8.5 miles away, with its lakeside walks and steamboat cruises. Keswick and Derwentwater are a scenic 16.5-mile drive from the cottage.

Arrive at the cottage and park right outside the door. Make your way into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to find a modern space that has been equipped with everything you are likely to need during your stay. Make a cup of tea in the chic kitchen area then enjoy it up at the breakfast bar with a slice of Grasmere gingerbread. Conjure up hearty feasts here too, then set the table and dine in style. While away your evenings together in front of the TV as the open fire crackles in the background. Listen to music through the Sonos sound system. When you are ready to retire for the night, climb the stairs, which have a glass balustrade, up to the first floor of the cottage. Here you have a spacious super-king-size bedroom, with ample storage and its own TV. The cosy single bedroom and the family shower room are also up here.

The cottage was nice and mostly quiet. Bed was very comfortable. Living room could do with a new sofa and chair, as they let the place down. Back yard could have done with weeding.

My family and I (myself, my husband, our toddler & baby) had a wonderful stay here. Michelle was kind and accommodating - everything was taken care of. The kitchen was clean, tidy & well equipped for cooking needs, the living room was spacious and the bedrooms were a good size - the beds were especially comfortable. The bathroom was clean and moderRead moren and the shower was fantastic. We had a great time and couldn't believe how near our accommodation was to the centre of Ambleside & amenities. Ideal base for walking. And conveniently central in Ambleside. Very clean and very comfortable. Not the easiest parking but perfectly manageable if you're OK at reversing through narrow gaps!

Comfortable and clean, excellent location right in town. Ambleside was a perfect base for exploring the area. Only downside was the tricky parking location.

We booked this house an hour before we arrived after being badly let down by another holiday property. It was a lovely comfortable property that we felt at home in. It's such an amazing location for Ambleside shops and restaurants and we hiked from here too. To find it take the small turning on Compston Road next to the Lucky Dragon takeaway.
