A charming cottage in the Lake District village of Ambleside, this delightful retreat is suitable for couples and families with older children. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway is within 350 metres of the town's shops, cafes and restaurants, ensuring great convenience throughout your stay. The National Trust's beautiful Stagshaw Gardens is 1.5 miles from your base. Waterhead, where you can take a cruise out on magnificent Windermere, is less than a 1-mile walk. Here you can also hire rowing boats, canoes and paddleboards or take yourselves off for the day on a motorboat. Stroll beside the lake and visit the Roman fort while you are here, too. Dig out your walking boots and wander less than a mile from the cottage to Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. Keen hikers might also like to make their way 1.5 miles up Wansfell Pike for panoramic views over Windermere and Ambleside.

Enter the cottage via the generous hallway, which has slate flooring and ample room for your jackets, bags and walking boots. Discover that the property has a semi-reverse-level layout to make the most of the natural light and the views. On the ground floor, you have a delightful twin bedroom with plenty of space for both guests to move around easily. This bedroom also has the luxury of a large en-suite bathroom, with a shower and a bath to choose from. Make your way up to the first floor to discover the remaining bedroom, as well as your welcoming living areas. The landing encompasses a workspace for those wishing to open their laptops, as well as a bookshelf for your holiday reading requirements. Head into the beamed lounge/diner to gaze out towards the scenic fells or unwind on the soft seating in front of the TV. Open the French doors in here so you can all wander out into the bright sunshine. Gather around the wooden table to enjoy the delicious meals you have conjured up in the adjoining kitchen, which has been equipped with everything you are likely to need. The family shower room and the lovely double bedroom, which also has a sloped, beamed ceiling, are also on this level. Wake up to woodland views in this restful space.

Share dinner or a drink on the deck on summer evenings. The attractive fellside garden here features sloping lawns and colourful trees and shrubs. There is secure storage for bikes and canoes in the garage. The cottage comes with private, off-road parking for one car.

This was our 4th stay at Coppertrees and we intend to book again for next year which is the best recommendation I can give. We have even got to know the neighbours! We love the Lakes and have visited many times over the years. Coppertrees is the best accommodation we've ever stayed in. Comfortable, clean, with everything a guest could wish for. TheRead more views from the property are stunning. A short walk into Ambleside where there is an excellent bus service which makes a pleasant change to driving and having to find a somewhere to park. I highly recommend Ambleside and Coppertrees to anyone looking for a wonderful holiday. Hide

Great location with amazing views. This does mean a steep walk up from the village at the end of the day but worth it. We brought a mattress topper for the king size bed to improve comfort. Apart from that the place was faultless.

Really enjoyed our bank holiday weekend at Coppertrees. Great views from the top of the garden and it was amazing to see a red squirrel. The bed were comfy, shower were great and the kitchen well equipped.

A great location with views. Quite a steep walk up from the village as a result. Lovely seating in the garden. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfortable lounge. I couldn't fault the place and we are already rebooked for next year.
