An inviting Ambleside getaway for a family or party of couples, this Lakeland hideaway is a cottage for all seasons. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom retreat is the perfect place to bask by the fire in the colder months and soak up the sunshine when it's warm. Stroll just 500 metres to discover the bustling heart of the town with its many independent shops and eateries. Head less than 1 mile in the other direction to find yourselves in Waterhead on the shores of magnificent Windermere. From Waterhead, enjoy a 3-mile, circular walk, taking you through ancient Skelghyll Woods and Jenkins Field, where you can meander through some of the tallest trees in Cumbria, enjoy the views from Jenkins Crag and paddle in the lake. Those keen to venture out onto the water can hire rowing boats or motor day cruisers at Waterhead or book tickets for a cruise.

Enter this tranquil retreat via the boot room, where you can kick off your wellies or walking boots. Put any damp clothing in the washing machine in the adjacent utility room before heading through to the kitchen, with its ample space and accessories for self-catering. There is a handy external door here, plus access to a useful pantry and the downstairs WC. Light the wood burner in the lounge/diner, then enjoy its cosy warmth as you play games at the table, dine together or read your book in a comfortable seat. The second lounge, where there is a TV and a lovely open fire, also features cosy seating to sink back into. Your enticing bedrooms, each with its own colour scheme, are all located on the second floor. Here you have two king bedrooms, both with generous storage and one with an en-suite shower room and scenic fell views. There is also a friendly twin bedroom. Your family bathroom, which has both a shower and a bath, is also at this level.

Head out to relax in the enclosed patio on sunny afternoons. Guests at this cottage benefit from private parking for one car. There is also nearby on-street parking, subject to availability.

Very cosy property, clean and spacious. Excellent location just out of the hussle and bussle of the town.

A pleasant house in a fabulous location, just a few minutes walk from Ambleside centre, with views of the fells and off-road parking. A comfortable house and we enjoyed our stay, but a couple of things prevented us giving it 5/5. The "spacious lounge diner with comfy sofa" is not a lounge at all. It is a dining room (with one armchair). We had partRead morely chosen the property for the two sitting rooms, so this was a slight disappointment. There was no door on the en suite shower when we arrived and we weren't informed of the problem until we reported it on arrival, although it was clearly a known problem. It was finally fixed on our last day. We weren't offered any compensation for this, despite having selected the property largely for the two separate bathrooms. The freezer was desperately in need of defrosting and some pegs for the washing line would be useful. The house could do with some TLC, to make it as good as it could be. Hide

Copt How is a comfortable property, warm and clean. It is a short walk from the house into Ambleside, with plenty of walks on the doorstep. The small back garden is secure and safe for our dog.

Really enjoyed staying at this lovely house. The team were very quick to respond when needed occasionally and the linen change was carried out without any fuss part way through our visit. Would definitely recommend and would come back.

Beautifully built and designed house, great off-street parking (a dream), views front & back, everything worked!
