We were the first guests to stay at the newly refurbishied Windy hall cottage in July 2025. The properly was fabulous. It has been fitted out to a very high standard. The cottage itself is located in lovely grounds. We even had deer wander up to our kitchen window. Lake windermere is a short 15 minute down hill walk. Julian (the host) was very frieRead morendly and couldnt do enough to make our stay comfortable. We hope to return. Hide

Wonderful stay at this Cottage. A hidden gem, and exceeded out expectations- which were already high. The patio area is a delight, and the bed super comfortable. Beautifully fitted and kitted out, we' would highly recommend Windy Hall Cottage.

This is a small cottage for two people which has been very nicely finished. A well thought out design with everything you need for a great stay. Living/dining area was comfortable for sitting in and the small dining table and chairs were by the window for natural light. The light fittings were very nice also. There is a log burner - there were no lRead moreogs - but it is the summer. A smart TV is on the wall above the log burner - I never used it. The kitchen which is off the living/dining area was up one step and although not huge had everything you needed. The shower room and toilet are next to the kitchen. Very smart finish and the shower was fabulous. There's a heated towel rail in here. A set of stairs from the living/dining area takes you up to the bedroom. It's a big room with lots of natural light coming in from two sides and very comfortable bedding. Maybe could do with a bit more hanging space for clothes? Outside there is a small patio area which gets the sun (if you get any) in the morning - couple of chairs and small table. Enjoyed a few coffees here. Just outside the front door there are a another couple of chairs and a table = this area gets the sun in the afternoon into the evening - great spot for a nightcap. Within 3 minutes walk you have Linthwaite House hotel. This has a really nice bar area, outside seating and dining area. We dined in here once and had drinks a couple of times. Food was reasonably priced but drinks were expensive. Also home to Henrock restaurant (we didn't go) - I won't spoil it = look it up. Going into Bowness you'll be spoilt for choice for restaurants, bars, fish and chip shops and ice cream shops. We walked down a few times - if you walk you need to walk at the side of the road for part of the journey as there is no footpath - oh and it's downhill. We took a taxi back - between 4.50 and 5.50. In summary - the property is very nicely finished with everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. I would be happy to recommend it to other people. Hide
