Nestled by the serene shores of Derwentwater, this charming hideaway offers an ideal escape for two, blending vibrant local culture with a peaceful lakeside setting. The water's edge lies less than 0.5 miles away, offering beautiful footpaths and nature trails for effortless walks or bike rides that showcase the very best of Cumbria's natural beauty. Follow the lakeshore and hike up to Catbells (2.5 miles), one of the area's most loved fells, rewarding walkers with stunning 360-degree views across the lake and surrounding mountains from its summit. From Keswick (1 mile), many more adventures await, including the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail, climbs up Skiddaw (5.5 miles), or the challenge of Blencathra (8.5 miles). The town is renowned for outdoor adventure, with guided excursion companies offering thrill-seekers opportunities to gorge walk, abseil, scramble, and more across the surrounding Lake District landscapes.

This pretty stone-built cottage has been lovingly maintained, retaining plenty of original features, including slate flooring and exposed brickwork. Step inside to discover the lounge, a warm and welcoming space where soft seating invites you to settle in with a good book, while a dining table provides the perfect setting for board games or an evening of cards. Next door, the galley kitchen is equipped with everything needed to turn locally sourced produce into delicious home-cooked meals. Also on this floor, the bathroom is a light and airy space offering both a bath and a shower. Open-tread wooden stairs lead to the first floor, entirely dedicated to a delightful double bedroom featuring a superbly comfortable bed and ample wardrobe space for unpacking.

At the front of the property, a shared patio area provides a pleasant spot to sit and enjoy the morning sunshine. There is no designated parking; however, on-street parking is available nearby.

The Escape is basic in the most positive way of the word, excactly what we wanted . In a perfect location.

The cottage was very small with a staircase that was difficult to use for my parents. It was steep and narrow and with the bathroom being downstairs, not ideal for older people the negotiate in the middle of the night.
