Staying at this holiday apartment in Ambleside places friends and family right at the heart of the Lake District National Park, with iconic scenery and fantastic days out in every direction. 1 mile away, you'll find the northern shores of Lake Windermere at Waterhead, where you can hire kayaks, try paddleboarding or hop aboard a scenic cruise. For walkers, Loughrigg Fell (2 miles) offers a rewarding yet accessible hike with panoramic lake vistas, while more experienced hikers can tackle Fairfield Horseshoe (3 miles) for a full day on the fells. For a gentler outing, visit Stock Ghyll Force (0.5 miles), a dramatic 70-foot waterfall tucked away in woodland close to the town centre. Literature lovers can explore Dove Cottage (4 miles) in nearby Grasmere, once home to William Wordsworth. If you fancy exploring further, head to Bowness-on-Windermere (5 miles) for lakeside cafes and attractions, or enjoy the quieter charm of Coniston (8 miles).

As you enter, a tall, light-filled hallway leads up to the apartment, setting a welcoming tone with locally crafted artwork lining the walls. The open-plan living area is a real showpiece, with an enormous bay window framing breathtaking views. A plush corner sofa sits before the wood burner, creating a warm hub for cooler evenings. The fully integrated kitchen is fitted with high-spec appliances, all subtly lit by pelmet lighting and spotlights. A handcrafted dining table provides a wonderful setting for long meals and lively conversation. From the lounge, the hallway leads to three beautifully styled bedrooms, each dressed in crisp white linens. The king-size master is bathed in natural light and benefits from a sleek en-suite shower room. The second king-size bedroom includes window seating and a TV, while the twin room, complete with its original fireplace, is full of character. The contemporary family bathroom rounds off the accommodation.

While there's no private outdoor area, the surrounding fells are easily reached on foot, making it simple to head straight out into the landscape. A parking permit for one vehicle is included, valid in several village car parks and across the South Lakes. You can pull up outside the property to unload and collect the permit with ease.

It was great apartment we stayed. There're all the things you need for the holiday apartment, fully equipped kitchen, hand wash and toilet rolls in the toilet, nice clean bedding a towels, not mention many beautiful pictures on the wall. It's like living in an art gallery. The utility door couldn't open when we arrived. The agent solved the problemRead more next day when we were out, very quickly and hassle free. We cannot fault Meadowsweet. The flat was large, spacious and had the most fantastic view of the village and across the fells. The flat had everything we needed and had the most amazing extra large master suit bed. We will definitely be coming back to stay here and would recommend this flat to anyone.

As a family of 5 we had a fantastic stay, the property is very spacious and in an incredible location. Lots of good quality crockery, pans, knife block etc. Having a Parking permit is also great as parking for a week in Ambleside could work out quite expensive without. The bed in the main bedroom is the biggest we've ever slept in!! (Super-king?). Read moreGiven it's central location it was a very quiet accommodation, no noise to disturb our sleep! Hide
