This holiday apartment in Ambleside makes a brilliant base for friends or family within the spectacular Lake District National Park. 1 mile from Ambleside, Waterhead marks the top of Lake Windermere, where you can kayak, paddleboard, or hop aboard a cruiser to admire the peaks from the water. Loughrigg Fell (2 miles) is a great introduction to fell walking. For a bigger challenge, set off 3 miles from Ambleside to tackle the sweeping ridgeline of the Fairfield Horseshoe. Closer to home, Stock Ghyll Force (0.5 miles) offers a quick but atmospheric woodland walk to a dramatic 70-foot cascade. Literature enthusiasts can venture 4 miles to Dove Cottage in Grasmere, stepping into the former home of William Wordsworth. Bowness-on-Windermere (5 miles) brings bustling cafes and lakefront attractions, while Coniston (8 miles) is a quieter setting to explore.

Inside, the bright open-plan living area is bathed in natural light, with pops of colour from mid-century styling, creating a warm welcome after a day roaming the landscape. Expansive windows and a private balcony frame a panorama of the fells, keeping the scenery front and centre throughout your stay. Comfortable seating is arranged around a Smart TV for easy evenings in, while the dining table for four sits perfectly positioned for long, leisurely meals with that unforgettable backdrop. The fully equipped kitchen includes modern appliances, making it simple to prepare anything from hearty breakfasts to relaxed suppers. There are two light and airy bedrooms, each a restful haven for a good night's sleep. The master bedroom includes a double bed and an en-suite with a walk-in shower. The second bedroom boasts a super-king bed, which can be arranged as twins on request. A contemporary family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower completes the interior.

Outside, the private balcony provides a wonderful vantage point for morning coffee or sunset drinks overlooking the fells. Well-kept communal gardens offer additional outdoor areas to sit and take in the surroundings, and private parking is available for added ease.

Fabulous apartment in every respect. There is an uphill walk if on foot but you are rewarded with spectacular views. We have stayed in many Ambleside properties but we enjoyed this property more than any other. No negatives, only positives.

A lovely bright and airy flat with mountain views over Ambleside. Well equipped and comfy bed. The stool to sit on in the hall by the boot rack was a great idea. On site parking was a bonus. I have already book Mountain View again.

My mum, my auntie, and I had the best time staying at Mountain View at Badgers Rake! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The cottage was super cosy, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The beds were really comfy, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the living area was perfect for chilling out after a Read moreday of exploring. But the best part? The views! Absolutely stunning--we spent so much time on the balcony just taking it all in. The location was peaceful but still close enough to everything we wanted to do. It's such a lovely getaway, and we'll definitely be back! Hide

The flat was very clean, well equipped and had a wonderful view of the fells. The location was good too - it was just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Ambleside.
