Beautiful little cottage in a perfect location. Very comfortable visit.

This cottage is in a wonderful location with a delightful 1.5 - 2 mile walk into Ambleside (and you can get the bus back if you are so minded). Real positives are the garden and the sheer space of the cottage, particularly the main sitting room and master ensuite bedroom. There's a gentle hubbub of people walking past as the cottage is on a route tRead moreo Rydal Water which is only a few hundred yards beyond the cottage...great if you are into paddle boarding or wild water swimming. The cottage is the perfect base for the Fairfield Horseshoe and other walks. Look out for for a home cricket match at Ambleside Cricket Club as well - what a fabulous setting! Others have mentioned a few points re the kitchen etc, but it's not awful and we would return to Cote Howe at the drop of a hat. I was slightly worried about how far out of town it was, but this just wasn't a problem and we were sad to leave! Hide

Lovely house, one of our favourite places we have stayed. Plenty of room, clean, comfortable and in a perfect location just a few minutes walk from the edge of Rydal Water but also close by to Ambleside and Grasmere. I feel like this won't be our last stay at Cote How Cottage!

This is a lovely cottage in a peaceful yet not remote location. We last stayed here in 2021 and it was just as good as we remembered. Slight issue with the heating but the Lakeland team and the owners were great. We look forward to returning in the future.

This was our 2nd stay at 1 Cote Howe and again it did not disappoint. The location is everything. It is wonderfullly remote, yet just a 5 min drive / 20 min walk into Ambleside, 2 mins walk to Rydal lakeside and 4 mins walk to the Badger Bar. Once again we were blessed with good weather and enjoyed the well kept garden on many occasions. Some of thRead moree interior of the house could do perhaps do with a little TLC (hence my 4* rating) but that does not detract from what all in all is great accommodation in a great location. Already we have booked again for the same time next year. I should add that both the owner and Lakeland Retreats have proven to be helpful and responsive when needed. Hide

Superb property in a superb location - spacious, uncluttered, well equipped property in a rural location. While we were only 3, six people in the property would not feel crowded. Two living rooms, both with TV, meant you could spread out and cover all those viewing conficts (Euros vs Love Island!). The location could not be better. Apparently isolaRead moreted, very close to Rydal Water, but a very good pub within 200 yards and two tea shops (Rydal Hall and Rydal Mount) not much further away. With Dora's Field and Rydal Mount jut across the way, Wordsworth is on tap! Hide
