This delightful two-storey cottage, on the banks of the River Brathay at Skelwith Bridge, is ideal for couples or a small family seeking a restful escape in the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Skelwith Bridge is the gateway to the majestic Langdale Valley, offering wonderful scenery and low and high-level walking and cycle routes, with all the main peaks and tarns within 5 miles. Ambleside, 2.5 miles away, is a vibrant town with a selection of fine-dining restaurants. Enjoy a gentle amble along the river to Elterwater, a great route for all ages and only 2 miles one way, then stop for some refreshments before returning. For rainy days, discover Beatrix Potter World, Blackwell Arts and Crafts, or ride the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, all within 15 miles. If you prefer activities on the water, head to Brockhole on Windermere, 5 miles away.

From the rear of this pretty stone-built cottage, step into a traditional, farmhouse kitchen complete with a Belfast sink and all the appliances you need to make meal preparation a breeze. The decor throughout the property is full of calming colours, creating the perfect ambience for you and your guests to unwind. There are plenty of thoughtful touches in the choice of art adorning the walls. Head through to the comfortable, open-plan lounge/dining room, where, in the colder months, you can curl up on deep-cushioned sofas in front of the wood burner, set into a striking fireplace. Settle in with a warm drink and a good book, or gather to while away the evening watching a movie or your favourite films on the Smart TV. The lounge boasts a superb view of the enclosed garden and river beyond. Enjoy dinner together at the dining table and then linger over board games or maps to plan the following day's adventure. When it is time to rest, head upstairs and drift off to sleep in one of two lovely bedrooms, one double to the front with an en-suite shower and WC, and the other a king-size to the rear of the cottage with garden and river views. Both bedrooms provide plenty of storage. Completing the interior is a chic, contemporary bathroom featuring a shower over a corner bath, perfect for a relaxing soak after a full day on the fells.

Wander outside to relax in the marvellous, enclosed gardens, perfect for a leisurely breakfast on the patio while taking in the gorgeous riverside views. Keep an eye out for the local heron and kingfishers that often visit. Parking for one car is available at the rear of the cottage.

Cottage was ideal for our needs and fully as described. Really appreciated the kitchen having a full array of utensils etc, and the cottage was spotless throughout. Will hopefully be staying again in future.

The cottage was just right and the location better than we'd realised, with Chester's caf virtually next door one way and the Talbot hotel the other. We had a fabulous beef pie in the hotel bar. The dog walk along the river was a delight and the caf in Elterwater [45 mins walk) did a great cooked breakfast.
