Ease yourself in with trails at Whinlatter Forest, before upgrading to Grisedale Pike (5.5 miles) then challenging yourself to a hike up Blencathra (6.5 miles). Take more leisurely walks around Derwentwater (2.5 miles), or visit peaceful attractions like Castlerigg Stone Circle (1.5 miles) and Mirehouse and Gardens (4.5 miles). Further afield, Aira Force (13 miles) is possibly the most famous of the Lake District waterfalls, and nothing can beat a trip on the Ullswater Steamers (16.5 miles).
