Located just 5 miles from the market town of Penrith, this pretty village is located on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Visit the Rheged Centre, a grass-roofed Lakeland heritage centre and gallery in a former quarry with a huge 3D cinema (5 miles). Beautiful Ullswater (7 miles), enjoy paddle boarding or take a trip on a steamer and visit Aira Force waterfalls. For those with a competitive edge in the party, why not visit Lake District Paintballing which is located just over 1 mile away. If you are looking for something a bit more unusual then why not walk an alpaca? The local area has so much to offer, but if you do fancy a trip over the border, take a train from Penrith to Glasgow or Edinburgh, enjoy a day shopping or look around the museums and art galleries.

Entering this property, you will walk into the open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. It is a great social space; the wooden floors make it ideal for families and their four-legged friends. The lounge has comfy sofas and a Smart TV with a cosy electric effect wood burner and original beams. It offers a great space to curl up with a good book or catch up on your favourite series through your Netflix account. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. The utility room which is next door has a dishwasher and washer/dryer and offers the perfect space to store/wash muddy boots and mucky pooches! There is a dining table overlooking the village which can accommodate the whole party, perfect to gather around breakfast and make plans for the day ahead. Head from the lounge into the small hallway, the utility room is at the bottom of the stairs, there is access from this room to a small private yard which is ideal for your four-legged friends. Head up the stairs to the first floor you will find three bedrooms, a pretty single bedroom with cute low-level windows and beams, the bathroom is opposite with a bath and WC. There is a king-size en-suite bedroom that has views over the village, beams and an en suite shower room with a WC. The third bedroom is a super-king zip-and-link (can be made up as a twin on request) with an en-suite shower room with a WC.

Outside, opposite the house, there is a private picnic bench overlooking the village green and only 30 meters from the front door you can walk down to the river which is a lovely peaceful spot to sit amongst the snowdrops, read or watch children paddling in the water and tiptoeing across the stepping-stones to the ‘island’ which has a swing. Young children will love it down here but should always be supervised. There is private parking for two cars opposite the house.

Really lovely cottage with super comfy facilities, bit bit helpful to find a note stating no dogs allowed upstairs when its not mentioned in the listing, would never have chosen this cottage if Id known.

A clean, spacious and homely let in an idyllic countryside setting. Perfect for exploring the lakes and surrounding area. Penrith was a 10 minute drive away which was ideal for food shopping, take-aways etc. Lots of personal touches and a delightful welcome package made us feel so very welcome. We would highly recommend this little gem to anyone.
