A chic modern cottage in Aspatria, this Cumbrian retreat is perfectly located for the Lake District and the coast. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom holiday home enjoys an enviable position, within 0.5 miles of the town’s shops and eateries. It is 8 miles from Maryport, with its aquarium and marina, and 8.5 miles from the market town of Wigton. Enjoy walks along the Solway Coast and spend time on the beach at Allonby, 6 miles away. Venture into the Lake District, which begins 4.5 miles from the cottage. Look out for otters, osprey and deer as you stroll beside Bassenthwaite Lake, 10.5 miles from your base. Venture 18.5 miles on a day trip to Keswick, where you can shop, dine out and explore magnificent Derwentwater from the lake itself or the footpaths around it. Cockermouth, 9.5 miles from the cottage, is home to the National Trust’s Wordsworth House and Gardens.

Pull up in front of the immaculate, red-brick house and step into the entrance hall. Here, there is a handy, ground-floor WC and a door through to the lounge. Make yourselves comfortable in the lounge on the plush seating as you host movie nights on the Smart TV. The sleek kitchen/diner is another outstanding social space. Fully equipped to a high standard, this encompasses all you need for your self-catering. Set the table for special holiday meals and dine together in style. Pull back the glass doors to create seamless indoor/outdoor living during the warmer months. There is also a useful utility room close by. We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation. The house was spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped. The appliances had been installed thoughtfully and perfectly to maximise comfort throughout our stay. In particular, the fans were a welcome touch during the hot weather and made a noticeable difference.
