For something gentler, Cockermouth (12 miles) is within easy reach for a mooch around its Georgian streets and offers many restaurants; you'll be spoiled for choice!
Return to the cottage and take in its elevated position, where you’ll gain some of the best views across the Lake District National Park. Step in through the front door into a practical cloakroom, ideal for jackets and walking boots, before moving through to the well-appointed kitchen. This farmhouse-style space is furnished with everything you need to rustle up family meals, before ascending the stairs to the mezzanine floor to enjoy the dishes from the eight-person dining table.
