Derwentwater is a fantastic base for family holidays, offering two marinas, canoe and rowing boat hire and popular cruises. Surrounding the lake is a welcoming cafe, a picturesque walled garden, friendly pub, and the bustling market town of Keswick, just 2 miles from the property. Here you will find a host of independent shops and eateries to explore including a celebrated bookshop and seasonal Victorian Fayre and Christmas Market. For cyclists, Whinlatter Forest, 3.5 miles away, offers a wealth of adventurous trails as well, while excellent road cycling can be enjoyed along the Honister, Newlands and Whinlatter passes. After a busy day, return to the village of Portinscale for a hearty meal in the dog-friendly local pub.

Inside, this recently renovated property is spacious, light and elegantly finished with stylish contemporary-style furnishings and a carefully coordinated colour palette. Spend quality time together in the spacious open-plan kitchen/diner, which opens through large, glazed doors into the garden, creating an al fresco feel all year round. The modern kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso machine (remember to bring your own pods with you). Enjoy a glass of wine at the breakfast bar or admire the mountain view from the sofa before enjoying home-cooked meals at the extending dining table. There is also double overlooking the beautiful mountain range. A modern shower room with a large waterfall shower completes this lovely property.

To the front of this property, comfortable sofas offer stunning views towards Catbells and Causey Pike - a picturesque perch for unlacing your boots after a busy day. Meanwhile, to the rear, everyone is catered for in the lovely garden complete with dining furniture, a BBQ, warm outside tap and wooden shed for storing bikes. There is off-road parking for up to three cars.

Excellent house with a well stocked kitchen and log fire burner. Utility room a great size for storing all the wet shoes/ jackets etc and doing any washing. Lovely seating area outside for when the sun does appear and gorgeous views of the hills. This was our second stay and would definitely return. Riverdale is a fantastic property for those that like a quiet location while still being close to all the amenities of Keswick. The property has everything visitors require and is always spotless and beautifully presented. Portinscale also has a lovely restaurant and pub within five minutes walk.

The house was perfect. It was exceptionally clean and well maintained. It was beautifully furnished and well equipped, we had everything we needed. Great location, just a short walk to Keswick. The views from the house are amazing. We will be back.

The cottage was stunning and so well equipped. The utility room was so handy with the weather being mixed and us having 2 dogs with us. Lots of space for muddy shoes, wet coats and dirty towels. The biggest bath o have ever seen!

This was our second visit and was as enjoyable and relaxing as the first. Riverdale is in a great location, is well laid out and is equipped with everything you would ever need making this very much feel like a home from home. Its rare to find a place like this so we would say book with confidence, you will enjoy your stay.

A beautiful cottage in the most stunning location! We had a lovely stay, the cottage is wonderfully modern and clean and the views over Catbells and Skiddaw were incredible. We were able to do lots of lovely walks from the doorstep and it was an easy walk into Keswick when we needed to pick up food. Have stayed in Riverdale a few times now and its location is perfect for a quiet getaway. Property is lovely, well maintained and has all the facilities you need during a break. Keswick is only a 20 minute walk away and there is a pub and cafe within 5 minutes walking distance. The garden is perfect for dogs as totally enclosed and safe. A very nicely presented property in a stunning location where much thought has been given to the ambience, decor and facilities, all of which are clearly focused on the relaxation and comfort of the guests.
