This beautiful property is situated within 25 metres of Talkin Tarn, where a tearoom, boat hire, great walks and bike routes provide many opportunities for adventure. The village pub is less than a mile away for relaxed meals out. The historic market town of Brampton is only 2 miles away with antique shops, cafes and takeaways, and there is usually a farmer's market once a month in the square. There is golf course within 500 metres; enjoy a round of golf or dine on a lovely lunch in the clubhouse restaurant. Gelt Woods (2 miles) offers a delightful walk and an RSPB nature reserve. Look out for the rock with an inscription carved by a Roman soldier in the 3rd century. You can also walk along the ridge through woodlands and take the quarry beck footpath to Lanercost Priory (4 miles). Hadrian’s Wall (8 miles) stretches seventy-three miles from Wallsend near Newcastle to Bowness-on-Solway. There are Banks Turret, near Brampton, and Birdoswald Roman Fort, just a few miles away.

Originally a hotel, this beautiful Victorian property has been lovingly restored and renovated into upmarket private residencies. This stylishly designed property offers a fabulous retreat for a couple or family. You will enter the property and find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, offering a cosy welcome with underfloor heating and contemporary real flame fire in the lounge. Curl up on the sofa in the evening and watch a good movie or why not indulge your competitive streak and bring out the board games! The bi-folding doors from the lounge open onto the private patio - such a lovely feature on a summer's day to bring the outside in and listen to the bird song. The kitchen is well equipped with a handy utility room opposite and WC. Heading up the stairs from the lounge area to the first floor, you will find the spacious and bright master en-suite bedroom with large floor-to-ceiling picture window which has stunning views over the open fields and towards the lake. Along the corridor is the twin bedroom which is also en-suite, featuring a bath which is ideal to relax in after a day of long walking, golfing or cycling.

Outside, there is a pretty, private patio area that has seating and views over the shared gardens. It offers the best place to enjoy breakfast, a morning coffee or sit out in the evening and stargaze in the dark skies. There is a car park opposite the property entrance and a parking permit is provided. There is also a storage facility in the car park offering lockable space to store bikes, sports equipment, pushchairs etc.

A very beautiful little cottage, located in a lovely part of the country. The cottage was well equipped and we all slept well. It was very clean and comfortable in every room. If we can we will be back as there are places in the area we did not manage to see.

Throughly enjoyed our stay at the Tarn. Absolutely beautiful side views of the Tarn. Great sunny patio. Would highly recommend as opposed to apartments with full on views of the Tarn as they are extremely shady in comparison to number 2. Fantastic golf course on your doorstep with use of apartment golf clubs.
