Thanks to the house’s location in Dubwath, near Bassenthwaite Lake, you can enjoy waterside wanders and leave the car at home. If it’s a hot day, jump in for a refreshing dip before you continue your stroll. Whilst enjoying the sights and the tranquillity, keep your eyes peeled for osprey. Make the 6-mile trip to Mirehouse and Gardens, where you can follow the Rhododendron Walk and visit the lakeside church of St Bega. If there are any keen golfers on your party, Cockermouth Golf Club is less than 2 miles from your door and has lovely greens.  This part of the lakes is quickly growing as a go to destination for foodies with many delicious independent restaurants in easy reach, including the award wining Bassenthwaite Lake Station café.

Step inside the entrance hall which leads to a handful of useful rooms: a drying room for coats and boots, a laundry with washer/dryer, and a WC. Head up to the first floor and reach the bright kitchen, which has a quirky sloping ceiling, dishwasher, microwave, fan oven and induction hob. Once you’ve cooked, move to the dining table in the light, airy dining room to enjoy the stunning panoramic views. The table shares its space with the lounge, where there is a wood burner to keep the chills at bay and comfortable sofas and chairs arranged around a TV with DVD player. If you don’t fancy a night in front of the screen, enjoy the board games or delve into a book. The two bedrooms are also on this floor. One is a king-size, the other a super-king that can be made up as a twin on request. The bedrooms share the family bathroom, where you can soak in the bath or freshen up in the walk-in shower.

If you need entertaining and there are competitive guests among you, head to the games room in the garage, complete with a table-tennis table for a fun-filled, family-friendly night in. Sit on the benches in the enclosed garden with a drink in hand while you wait your turn. There is off-road parking for two cars in front of a garage. There is also space next to the gates for other cars to park on the road.

We really enjoyed our stay at owls Roost with our two children. The accommodation is small but works well. The views from the property are outstanding and would be hard to beat anywhere else. This is such a lovely property and well equipped. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful views from every window. Near the main road for Keswick which was ideal as we were attending the Keswick Convention.

The fantastic views really make this property. Also a lovely garden area if the weather is warm enough. The living area is pleasantly spacious, and the kitchen well equipped. Note that the owner uses one of the 2 parking spaces, so a second car would have to park on the road. Also I wouldn't recommend it for small children - it is on the first flooRead morer and the kitchen area is open to the stairs. Since we had only 1 car, and no small children, we enjoyed our stay. We normally stay in Keswick, but really enjoyed this location as Keswick is very busy at this time of year. There is a bus stop nearby which makes getting around very easy and no worries about getting parked. The garden is a huge bonus as outdoor space is rare in Keswick. Very comfortable lounge area and really comfortable beds. Great shower.
