Explore this much-loved national park from a prime position in the village of Thornthwaite. Just 4 miles from the ever-popular adventure capital of Keswick, this property ensures there’s plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages. Here you’ll find plenty of outdoor adventure centres for guided experiences on the nearby Derwentwater (3 miles) or Skiddaw mountain (8 miles), along with an independent cinema and waterside theatre for evenings out. Set off from your doorstep to experience the stunning Whinlatter Forest Park (2 miles) and perhaps book a visit to Go Ape!

Enter the property via a path along the side and into the hallway. Here you can head straight into the kitchen/diner with patio doors leading out to the veranda. Fully equipped with a breakfast table, electric cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and slimline dishwasher, you’ll no doubt find all you need to feed four. There’s even a TV in here for entertainment whilst preparing meals. Continue through into the charming sitting room which also has patio doors leading out to the veranda. Ample seating, a TV and a warming wood burner makes this space the ideal spot for cosy nights at home. Stairs from the living room lead to a master double bedroom with beautiful views, a true delight to wake up to each morning. Also on this floor is a family bathroom with WC and shower over bath. Completing the property is a twin bedroom tucked under the property’s eaves on the second floor, a cheerful room with original beams and restricted head height.

Accessible via the kitchen and sitting room, the veranda sets this holiday home apart from the rest. Stretching one side of the property, this decked area features a seating area for observing the flowing water and local wildlife. There is a barrier along its length, but it has a steep drop down to the river so young children must be supervised. Finally, a wood store in the garden, which is reached by steps, offers a secure spot for storing bikes or sporting equipment.

A lovely cottage in a quiet location. The beck behind the cottage was a real treat and to see it change after rain was amazing! The cottage was warm and cosy and we felt instantly at home. There were plenty of walks straight from the door which is a bonus. The kitchen was well equipped for all our needs and was spacious too.

A fantastic cottage in a superb location for exploring the northern Lake District. It was very comfortable and clean, and finished to an excellent standard. There is a mountain stream running through the back garden, and from the balcony we could watch red squirrels in the woodland opposite. We would definitely return to this cottage when visiting Read morethe area again, and would thoroughly recommend it. Hide

Great cottage. Loved the location. Well equipped and very comfortable. Cute location next to the ravine and its gurgling mountain stream - particularly beautiful in the mornings. Keswick has everything you need, Braithwaite and Thornthwaite have most of what you need within walking distance.

A lovely cottage and garden in a peaceful location surrounded by nature. Everything you need with a comfy bed and sofa and with the added bonus of the balcony and wood burner. Perfect.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a great location. Red squirrels in the pretty little wood right on the doorstep. This was our 4th visit and wont be our last, all being well.

Fantastic cottage with a lovey homely feel, the location is very special with a terraced garden and beautiful fast flowing river at the bottom, stunning views and lots of peace and quiet. Keswick is a short car ride away with loads of nice bars restaurants and shops and the cottage couldn't be better placed for accessing the amazing Whinlatter ForeRead morest Park. You can easilywalk up to the Whinlatter visitor centre along the river on a fantastic bridleway that takes you into the heart of the forest. Hide

Lovely cottage, comfortable, well equipped and in a fabulous position. Very quiet location, and ideally situated for Keswick and the surrounding fells. Some might find the 2nd bedroom a challenge as the eaves are pretty low - but kids would love it.
