Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, offers a great location to explore the western fells and lakes of the Lake District. Grasmoor, Fleetwith Pike, Haystacks, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Loweswater and Whinlatter Forest are all within 12 miles. The path at Bassenthwaite Lake runs the length of the west shore, and there is an open-air theatre at Mirehouse which is well worth a visit. The town has a great selection of independent shops, bars and restaurants. For something a little different, why not enjoy some outdoor adventures at Go Ape or explore the forest trails at Whinlatter (8 miles)? The Keswick Mountain Festival, which is usually held in May or June, offers three days of world-class sports, outdoor activities, talks and films with live music (14 miles).

As you enter this impressive townhouse, you will find yourself in the stunning wood-panelled entrance hall, the perfect setting to introduce you to this magnificent property. To the right of the entrance hall, you will find the formal dining room, offering a great social space to catch up with family and friends over a meal or make plans for the day ahead over breakfast. From the entrance hall, you cannot miss the beautiful oak staircase. There is a small bedroom on the ground floor just off the hallway, with bunk beds that are suitable for all ages and an en-suite with a shower and WC. Tucked away behind the staircase on the ground floor is the kitchen, offering a practical space equipped with a range-style gas hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Off the kitchen, you will find a small utility room with a washing machine and dryer, and there is access out to the enclosed private courtyard. As you head up the staircase to the first floor, you will find the spacious lounge with high ceilings and large picture windows which allow the light to flood in. There are comfy sofas and ample seating, along with a cosy electric fire and Smart TV - this room is a great place to chill out after a day out exploring. Off the lounge, there is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite with a shower and WC. Further along the landing, there is a pretty double bedroom with a TV, original beams and an en-suite with a shower over the bath and WC. As you head up to the second floor, there is a spacious super-king-size bedroom mid-landing, with seating, TV and en-suite with a shower and WC. As you get up onto the second floor, you will find a pretty twin bedroom with an en-suite which has a bath, handheld shower and WC. There is also a double bedroom and king-size bedroom on this floor, all beautifully styled with TVs and en-suite shower rooms with WCs.

There is a private, enclosed courtyard with seating on the patio, allowing you to sit outside on a pleasant evening. There are two parking permits available for the nearby car park, just 130 yards from the property. Additional cars can pay to park and payment can be made either by card or cash - the cost is around £6 per day (subject to availability).

Had a great few days here with my extended family. the house had plenty of space, was well equipped and in a great location to potter down the high street or drive to nearby attractions. Would recommend for large families as there was plenty of space for everyone to get some quiet time if needed.
