  • Relax in front of the wood burner and enjoy the fell views
  • Ideal for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers discovering Derwentwater
Property code: OC-SZ075

Situated in the beautiful Newlands Pass between Braithwaite and the lake of Buttermere, the cottage offers glorious mountain views of Catbells, Robinson and Blencathra. A fabulous base for walkers of all abilities, nearby fells include Causey Pike, Ard Crags, Robinson and Dale Head (all of which can be walked from the front door). The cottage is just a couple of miles from the edge of Derwentwater, a fantastic spot for cruises, fishing and kayaking. The bustling market town of Keswick (5.5 miles) has a great choice of pubs, shops and restaurants. Local attractions and landmarks include the Newlands Adventure Centre (1 mile), Whinlatter Forest Park (5 miles), Honister Slate Mine Castlerigg Stone Circle (both 8 miles), Ashness Bridge (7.5 miles) and Surprise View (8.5 miles).

Stepping into this traditional and delightfully pretty cottage, a hallway leads you through to the friendly and welcoming lounge. This is a lovely space to relax in at the end of a great day out, with comfortable seating, TV, DVD player and original features including an exposed ceiling beam and feature fireplace. Exploring further, the kitchen/diner provides a spacious and sociable area for you all to gather. The dining area features a cosy wood burner, TV, large dining table with chairs, and plenty of comfortable seating. A step leads up to the kitchen, which is equipped with an oven and hob, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. The ground floor also has a handy utility room which houses the washer, tumble dryer, large fridge and large freezer. Please note the AGA is not in use. Heading upstairs, there are three cosy bedrooms, tastefully decorated in light, soothing neutral tones. You will find two king-size rooms, each with walk-in wardrobes and en-suite shower rooms complete with shower and WC; and there’s also a charming twin room. This floor also has a separate shower room with shower and WC.

You might recognise the cottage from the BBC's popular drama, 'The A Word' as the family home.

Outside, a small back yard backs onto the fellside of Causey Pike and a small area of woodland. To the front of the cottage, there’s a small sitting area, as well as a private patio with garden furniture, ideal for a morning coffee and taking in the beautiful views of Catbells, Maiden Moor and High Spy. Bikes and other outdoor equipment can be stored in the owner’s adjoining barn, and private parking is available opposite the property.
